movie about Katrina dogs, mostly about those whose owners found out who had them and had trouble getting them back (though all the ones featured do eventually.. in one case 4 years later... get their dogs back) All I can say is: despite the valiant effort by the Canadian Stealth Volunteer and a California adopter, white women do not come off well! Jane Garrison takes the cake when she says that adopters of Katrina dogs shouldn't feel obligated to give them back to the owners because then NO ONE would ever adopt from a rescue for fear that the original owner would try to reclaim the dog. Uh... guess she never heard of "owner surrender forms". Which of course the owners of the Katrina dog did not sign.

that happened up here, apparently a dog was adopted thru a local rescue, and after a while (i dont know how long) the katrina owners found where the dog was, and the new adopters refused to return the dog. it actually went to court and i THINK the katrina owners got their dog back but i am not sure.

What a predicament to be put in. You adopt out a doggie, love it for months/years, and someone comes to you saying to give their dog back. I feel for both sides.

What a predicament to be put in. You adopt out a doggie, love it for months/years, and someone comes to you saying to give their dog back. I feel for both sides. in some cases, the rescuers DIDNT TELL the adopters that these were Katrina dogs, whose owners might still be looking for them. In many others, the rescuers didn't believe the original owners should get their dogs back, because they allegedly abandoned them. It was a horrible disaster in almost every way possible.
