only allow one out at a time when other dogs are out. the more they fight the more they are going to like it and the better they will get. you will eventualy have to not allow them together if you let this continue to escalate. have 2 people walk one each and if other dogs are out only let one out at a time to play with other dog

They can still be social without being off leash. I agree with letting each out separately. Take them on a leash so you can be sure there is nothing that can cause them to fight. If you see other dogs, you can lead them away at the first sign of something. You know what they say about sibling rivalry!

I hear ya, Carolann. Last time our old neighbor kid played with my cousin, he shot him in the leg with a blowdart gun on purpose! Forget dogs, kids are vicious!

This situation could be really problematic as the dogs mature if the neighbor intends to continue to let the Basset roam over with bones and such. Big-time triggers: resources + non-resident dog encroaching on territory = recipe for disastor.

Agree with Mary. Its not your dogs play problem. It is the dog off lead with a bone. Think you and the neighbor need to come up with a schedule so dogs are just not out same time.
