OK Deja has been with us for over a year, she is now with a family doing a trial weekend. They have three kids which she adores, BUT today Deja started mounting the four year old. She keeps Deja on a leash and when it starts she pulls her off and tells her no. She will go right back at it after a few minutes. I know she has to be consistant but is there anything else she can try.... Oh this family is great, I hope it works out!

Teach 4 year old to yelp when Deja puts her mouth on her. Worked wonders for Rocky when he was young

I've never had an issue with a mounting dog, but would something like a squirt bottle help? Like the 4yr old could have a little squirt gun and give Deja a squirt when she mounts?

Carolann the dog is mounting not mouthing...Lol! I thought the same thing at first then when I read maryellens post I realized the dog is mounting (humping).
I agree with Maryellens post...The dog must view the child as lower than her.

humping a child is not a good thing for sure. the child can also work on obedience with deja too. but i would remove all privileges and boot camp nilif with child feedng her and doing obedience /toys with her so that she doesnt mount her

Mounting is a control thing, and can also be a manifestation of stress. So I'd ask in what situations is she mounting the 4 year old, then circumvent those situations for the time being instead of reacting after the fact (which could actually escalate the problem).
Do a lot of sit/wait, and make sure the kids aren't stressing Deja (interacting with her past the point of tolerance/enjoyment). Give her lots of time outs in a crate before she has a chance to get overly aroused and have cause to hump.

Thank you all. She has been working with the kids and Deja. She will get it, its going to take time. The kids are amazing with the dog, and are already getting her to sit, and give paw for treats. I am going to pass on the info.
