I walk Rhys in a regular step-in harness. I threw away the strangle collar that came with him and got a regular collar and a harness and he seems to do better in the harness. Only pulling if he sees other dogs or sometimes people. However, the harness rubs his poor little pink belly. I sewed felt onto it and that helps but on long walks or when he's running on his line a lot when we play it seems to rub still. Are there any harnesses or tweaks you could recommend to prevent rubs?

I've seen harnesses with sheepskin on the inside...that would probably be more comfortable. Have you ever tried a Martingale collar?

Courtney, no I haven't tried a martingale collar yet, they're surprisingly elusive around here. I am starting to look for one online though. I really want to stick with the harness though because I like him to have that for when he's on his line.

I LOVE that walking/running harness by WeightPull! OMG me too, that is such a nice harness!!! They look great! does anyone here have one? Looking for input before I buy hopefully... I emailed the owner to ask about the "fur" material but haven't heard back yet. It looks like it might get hot over the summer?

I plan on getting that harness for Aiden. Since he wears his all the time and has baby skin (half shar pei, which makes it even worse than pittie), he needs something like that. I do worry about the heat with the fur though. I have the belly strap of his harness wrapped with coflex right now. Last year I used a cut up sock. He wears clothes all winter, so those take care of it when it is cold.
I know most people will say not to leave a harness on, but Aiden can't wear a collar due to his back, and with multiple dogs and cats), I need to be able to grab him. I think all dogs should wear a "handle" for safety reasons. Not to mention I need a place to hang his tags.

I have both sense-ible and sense-ation harness www.softouchconcepts.com/ I have two one wich I bought mole skin from cvs in the dept where you find dr. schols and shoe inserts. it has sticky on the backside. I stuck it on and it lasts for a while before it comes off. On the other I used the fuzzy stuff off an old sporne harness I dont use anymore and sliped them over the straps. I prefer a harness that the leash clips on the chest. As this harness does not stop the dog or force the dog not to pull. he just does not have his chest power when he tries to pull making it better for my ole back. He does not pull alot but will like you said sees a dog wants to sniff something etc. His harness rubbed him raw on simple walks as he has a naked belly. But the mole skin and the fuzz stuff really helped. I like that harness you posted ME except rocky would pull the heck out of me with the ring on his back. That looks similar to his car seat belt. Wonder if it would work for that too.

I think I do have a use for that weightpull walk run harness. I have been thinking of taking up biking and getting one of those bars that you attach dog too. That harness might just be perfect for that purpose.

That harness might just be perfect for that purpose. Me too! If you do it let me know how it goes, I can't afford one of the attachments right now (argh, just finished all Rhys's vet stuff and neutering, now its the horse's turn for his yearly vet visit...)

I talked to them at the weight pull site and they said they can put a D-ring on the front for a few extra dollars. That is what I am going to have done, as Aiden does better with the leash attached in front as well.
