I have an almost 4 year old female pit, Shotzi. My husband got her when she was young. A random guy wanted to get rid of her because she wasnt aggressive. She has been living with us since we got married 2 years ago. She loves our kids. Never plays too rough. I got pretty sick a few months back and she stayed in bed with me for almost a week. I mean this dog is pretty close to being perfect. Now for our new problem.... Last night I was laying in the floor playing with her and out of no where she started humping my back. I corrected her, moved onto the couch and didnt really pay anymore attention to it. So at about 2 AM I wake up to my 100lb "baby" going at my leg! I have no idea where it came from. She is almost 4 years old. We had her fixed about a year ago. My husband said she has never done it before that he knew of. I have only had little bitty ankle biting male dogs that will hump anything until they fall out. She is my first female dog. I didnt know what to do, how to correct her. I figured she was having some kind of a dominance issue but I really didnt have a clue and still dont! Any advice will help sooo much! I just dont think I want to wake up that way anymore.... it was definately a shock to the system at 2 AM, LOL!

I wouldn't be overly concerned about it. It is a pretty normal, common dog behavior - for both sexes and has nothing to do with sex. It's basically a control behavior, with the dog trying to gain control over a particular person or animal in a given situation. The first instance during play with you on the floor is very very common. In a situation such as this, I'd simply walk away from the dog, or cue another behavior. Sit, for instance.
For the nighttime issue .... was she already sleeping in the bed? I'd suggest having her sleep in her own bed for a bit, or maybe even permanently.

Her nights are spread out all over the house. When we put the 9 month old to bed, she goes and lays in her bed right next to the crib. Then when our 4 year old goes to bed she lays in the hallway between their bedroom doors. Finally, when we go to bed she comes and sleeps with us. She paces all over the upstairs at night and usually sleeps about an hour then makes her rounds, and comes back to bed. Today she has been fine. Played and went for a walk with no problem at all so maybe it was a one time deal and it wont become a habit. Thanks for all of your help!
