My puppy of 5 1/2 months ABSOLUTELY loves people & playing with other animals but whenever my father decides to get drunk(which is often) she will sit in front of my girlfriend & I & give him a low warning growl towards him.My father plays with her at times when he's sober but then will ignore her because of his weird mood swings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated,,,thanks

People under the influence of drugs and alcohol can be very disturbing to dogs. Behavioral changes on the part of the human also influence a change of behavior on the part of dogs. If your father is acting inconsistently with her in general (you mention 'weird mood swings') then she may already be confused about where she stands with him. I would keep her away from your father when he is drinking - if she starts growling, try to distract her and get her to leave the area. Dogs and intoxicated people just don't mix.
