Have you ever tried clicker training with Baby?

put him in a different room when people come over, until you train this behavior away. It takes time and patience Just about every dogtraining book has a section on how to do this. FIRST you have to teach a down/stay. Gradually make the situations more difficult and distracting until she can hold her stay in every situation. Then practice with friends coming to the door; give the down/stay command. Friend comes in; if Baby gets up, friend goes back out the door, and you move Baby further away. Etc.

easier said then done. Rocky is a therapy dog but when it comes to visitors he cant control it. ALthough has gotten alot better. He acts looney but quickly calms and goes to his spot. Training go to your spot works best when they can stay with all fours on floor then guest can give a treat. I always planned to clicker train when there is a knock or a ring it means go to your spot but I have never taken the time to have someone ring or knock to train it. Not the dogs fault that one I have been lazy about.

thank's for the info guy's...i try to put her in a sit/stay mode when anyone come's in, but it only work's for a few second's.... she has to learn to hold that sit/stay. When she breaks, grab her quick, and put her in a different room. Don't let her self-reward by getting to your friends.

I'm waaaay too lazy to type it up, but maybe someone has a link to the same thing. In the Petsmart/pet store mag by Dog Fancy people called "How to Train your Bully Breed" there is a great one pager on how to train "your spot" and "settle".
