Alright.... So I work for a vet, I meet MANY different people, and a lot of them do not understand dog aggression, which is fine, whatever. But everytime I meet someone who trains I will go over Kangas issues just to see what their opinions are. So I met another one, and he, just like many of the rest, SWEARS up and down that he can train Kanga to live and run free in the house with the other dogs. I mean come on now. She cannot be trusted, and this will never happen, and as much as I argue with them they keep pushing it..... This guy also tells me he uses Cesars methods and they are flawless! LOL I am almost tempted to take him up on the offer, but I do not want Kanga to have anything else on her track record!

Why do so many people subscribe to the philosophy that they can train their pit bull to live and or interact in perfect harmony with other dogs and that once they are "trained" properly they can happily co-exist without ever having to be separated or crated and rotated!

Of course he can get Kanga to run free and love the other doggies, its all in how you train them remember?

The best part of this whole thing is he brought in a rescued female pit with a muzzle on (she was sweet not sure what he was thinking) and a choke chain! And when she walked into the doorway first he basically choked the crap out of her. Oh yeah your going to get to meet my dog! LOL MARY I asked him what schooling he had, or what training programs he learned from and he told me he just learned through going to training classes with his dogs, and what he learned from Cesar LOL OMG!

"Flawless"? He actually used that word? LOL I hate trainers. Run away from anyone who uses the word "flawless" in connection with ANYTHING (at least anything that's alive)

The only thing I want flawless is a diamond!!
But really, this guy is full of crapola. I was told that too when Margeaux was attacking Phyllis. The rescue lady said, "call this trainer, he stopped 2 Danes from fighting and saved the owners' marriage" . I thought, yeah right. Wait a few months and they'll be back at it again. You have a DA dog and that's just that. She's a Pit, and it's not her fault. Don't let anyone tell you that it's your fault, either!

Thats the funny thing....
About 5 years ago when Kanga was about 1, we were in a CGC class, and of couse Kanga tried to attack another dog that growled at her...
The trainer looked at me and said, wow you must have not socialized her at all!
HAHA little did he know.... ::sigh::

Don't say you hate all trainers! I might get offended. That said I would never say what that guy said and I have found more "trainers" I wouldn't trust to train a flea circus. Dog aggression is hard, Dog aggression in a breed that has a tendency toward breed aggression is extremely hard. Some dogs can never be trusted unattended with other dogs. However, with the right tools you can manage dog aggression and with serious vigilance you can prevent out right attacks. Working in a vet clinic myself, I often do mental eye rolls at many of the "trainers" that come in.

Dog aggression can certainly be managed. I am sure quite a few of us manage it on a daily basis...present company included! However, pit bulls should never be trusted with other dogs unattended. It certainly is amazing the number of trainers out there that will tell you that pit bulls once "propery trained" can be left unsupervised with others dogs....scary philosophy in my eyes.
