So Chubs had his first clicker class last night (where, super awesome surprise, Slater the blue pitbull pup and his dad signed up too!)
Chubs showed no aggression towards any of the other dogs (no growling, no snapping, no hard stares, no stiff body language), which is a total HORRAY from me because I had never really gotten to see him around other dogs when there wasn't a fence in between. BUT, after sniffing other dogs or trying to play he would start humping the air (once or twice actually trying to hump another doggie). But I made him sit down until he calmed down again and then let him go near the others (man, was THAT embarrassing!)
Also, Chubs was the biggest dog there! The rest where puppies or french bulldogs and one little silky looking dog. Other than the humping episodes he was fairly well behaved (a few times he did whiney-bark if he A) saw another dog getting treats and wanted some or B) had mastered the 'watch me' command and was letting me know he was doing it if I wasn't paying attention, lol.
It was funny we the class practiced the 'no jump' because you could just not get Chubs off his butt if he thought there was a treat involved (yay!). Also I had to drag him out of a 'sit' in order to practice the sit on command because he would just look at me like "Mom! If I get out of a sit, I get no hotdogs!! Must sit!"
There were a few little snags in class, like the minute we all got into the room a guy let his Frenchie off leash, or when Inna had us all in our assigned 'spaces' this guy next to me with a Cattle Dog puppy (i think) kept letting the leash loosen up so his puppy kept getting in Chubs' area (which was already in a corner so he had no where to move) and it was hard to get Chubs to focus when there was a puppy in his face. Inna told the guy to shorten the leash and he just said "I can't" which had me confused as to why. Anywho, I am looking forward to the next class.
ps: What I thought was hysterical that by the end of the class you knew which area was me and Chubby's because ours was the only spot COVERED in drool, lol.
pps: New board member Mike and his pup Slater did fab from what I could see, Slater is so handsome in person and is going to be a sweetie pie pibble grownup some day!!
