What a day. First I was on phone with a trainer discussing doing work at a shelter when suddenly ROcky was barking and running like a loon. Realized there was a deer in the next yard. No problem called him off again got em in the house.
Later in the day got a call from the same trainer again to discuss stuff. Again I was outside with Rocky. Noticed him sniffing the ground then he shook his head like he does when he sniffs a bug like a bee or a spider. He started to walk away but turned back and lifted his paw like pointing at something. Next thing he lifts his leg and pees where he sniffed and I see something slithering. I yelled "thats a snake". The girl on the phone was like oh my gosh I will let you go. I responded no stay on the line while I identify the snake just in case it is a bad one and it bites me. Turned out to be just a garter snake. Usually what I see but ya never know we can have coperheads and rattlers. I am sure this thing put the bite on Rockys mouth. He was drooling and circling. Can you imagine his defense was to pee on it. He did not try attacking it at all. But his peeing on it was quite effective the snake took off. Rocky did not chase after it. Later in the eve a small deer was in my yard. Good thing Rocky was in the house. I have not seen a deer in the yard since we got ROcky. Guess it jumped the fence. The weird thing the Circus was in town today for real. Guess the animals decided to come hide by me.
Im sure some of you have scarry snake stories but I have had tons of these snakes recently. Learned they are a good thing to have in the garden but they freak me out.
