I have been trying with my almost 5 month puppy to go for nice and long walks, but it has become very difficult to do it because she is extremely focus on the ground trying to pick every single thing she sees. A little rock, mulch, sticks, paper and anything else catches her attention all the time. I stop every time she tries to go after any of these things or pull for any other reason and wait for her to look at me...but she does not lol. Instead she sits and do not make eye contact with me which worries me a little. At home, if I give her a chance to come to me she will do it right away and will want to start licking me and stay closer, but outside is a different story. How can I get her attention and make her enjy the walks?...well, Ithink it is enough for now but I will come back with more questions. ??? THX

Have you looked into clicker training? It has done wonders with my boy Chubs. The one we practice the most while on walks is 'watch me'. Essentially now if while one a walk and he gets distracted by something other than a ball (that is going to take a lot of work for us) I point to my nose and just say "Watch Me' and the second he does I click and give him a little treat. After a few tries I notice he is staring at my face while on walks sorta waiting for a treat.
Look into Clicker Training, there are a lot of articles on the boards about it.

at 5 months old most pups have the attention span of a gnat, this is all normal. you can try clicker training and treats to work on attention , but remember this is a puppy so have patience

Good advice from Maryellen and Sugar. Also never too young to start clicker training and because she is just a pup in very short intervals.
