LOCAL BANKER IS RAISING "PAWS" FOR HER CAUSE
to help local abused and abandoned animals
The heat is on: Business leader competing in "Dancing with the Gloucester
County Stars," chooses beneficiary Gloucester County Society for the
Protection of Animals
GLOUCESTER COUNTY, NJ - The heat is on for Kathy McGuire, President of
<http://www.njafa.org/> NJ Aid for Animals and one of their four county
cruelty divisions, Gloucester County Society for the Protection of Animals.
First because it means getting more votes for her charity in the upcoming
"Dancing with the Gloucester County Stars" competition hosted by the Greater
Woodbury Chamber of Commerce. Second, McGuire and her volunteer team are
busier than ever as the incidence of animal abuse and neglect is rising in
direct proportion with the high summer temperatures.
This is one more way McGuire seeks to galvanize public interest in caring
for animals and preventing abuse.
Gloucester County Society for the Protection of Animals is the charity of
choice for Mantua resident Kathryn Marks, manager of Wachovia Bank in
Wenonah, who is one of the six community leaders performing in the "Dancing
with the Gloucester County Stars" competition. This is the first time in the
dance competition's five-year history that an animal-related charity has
been selected as a recipient.
Marks and her team are raising "paws" - a goal of $25,000 - to support the
Society's work. "Every dollar counts. People can buy a "paw" for a dollar or
a " whole kennel" for $5,000," said Marks. "Any amount will help the
animals and EACH DOLLAR IS A VOTE," said Marks. Checks can be made payable
to Gloucester Co. Society for the Protection of Animals and mailed to
Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce, P O Box 363, Woodbury, NJ 08096 and
mark it "paws" or by PayPal at <http://www.njafa.org> www.njafa.org
"I have always loved animals but never knew how many owners neglect their
pets, fight them for amusement, abandon them or overall abuse them.
Gloucester Co. Society for the Protection of Animals, has shown me how many
animals need our help. We are their voice," said Marks.
According to McGuire, "We are thrilled to be chosen as a beneficiary by
Kathryn and hope to raise awareness about the plight of abused and neglected
animals in local residents' own backyards." "Every dollar raised by Kathryn
is a vote for us in the dance competition. NJAFA needs funding for its
local divisions to be effective," stressed McGuire, "and participating as a
beneficiary is a way to reach the public through what is now a Gloucester
County tradition. We couldn't be more inspired."
McGuire joins the public in recognizing and supporting Kathryn for her heart
and courage. The dancing finale is at Auletto Caterers on September 23 and
tickets are $50. Cut off for "votes" is September l5.
Gloucester Co. Society for the Protection of Animals exists to empower
private citizens how to recognize and report animal cruelty. To report
abuse, call your local police or 856.467.0182
NJ Aid for Animals, including its divisions, is a tax exempt nonprofit that
is entirely supported by private contributions. Funds raised by Kathryn
Marks in Dancing with the Gloucester County Stars will directly support the
charity's work.
