Was just curious how everyone here feels about PETA?
I have a LOT of mixed signals and am really not a fan of how Ingrid Newkirk does business. Was watching a bio of her and PETA on HBO today. It was ..to say the least... pretty frightening.

Yeah pretty much the image I got from the whole thing was that she isn't really about saving animals as much as she is about getting rid of peoples connections with animals PERIOD. And then she goes on saying to send in donations to save animals when none of it is going to that, all to compaigns. Not to mention the amount of animals they euthanize vs. save...ugh!

I am not a fan of PETA at all!!! They seem good but if you scratch the surface they have messed up alot and dont do half of what they say! And like Mary said they support B.S.L.! Its funny because one time I was watching Animal Planet and there was this commercial on and it was saying how they want to save ALL the animals! So what? Is there an exception for APBT's arent they a animal? I think they are frauds!

Also, they may pull dogs from unsavory situations, but those dogs ultimately get euth'd. It's one thing when you have no choice, and the goal is at least to end suffering. But PETA has millions. They are extreme animal rights - and not very ethical at all, from what I've seen/heard.

I don't think you even want to get my started on this... In fact I have a MySpace group that spun off of this very topic: groups.myspace.com/animalwelfarevsanimalrightsThere is a HUGE difference between animal welfare and animal rights. PETA, and now increasingly the HSUS, are animal rights. They want to sever the tie between humans and animals completely. (In other words, domestic animals go extinct.) And they are the wealthiest animal charities in the US but do very little to care for animals. If they actually used their money for useful activities, the situation for animals in our country could be greatly improved.
