my puppy Brock is around 10 or so weeks old now and is doing pretty good with house and crate training. Some accidents usually occur when kids would rather play playstation than pay attention to the pup. He is also doing good with sit. I have been working on "come" on and off a leash. Today i was bringing him out back for a potty break and told him to come. Ears went down and he sat. He then ran and began to play growl at me. I get that he is young but I want him to do what he is told too. everytime i bring him outside i will take a few minutes and have him sit and come usually treats are involved. So is he just a pup and he will get it or am i doing something wrong?

At 10 weeks, his attention span is that of a 2 year old. Don't rush the training; it will come in time. He will also not get it on the first few tries. Just don't be impatient. Make it fun for him with treats, toys and games, and he'll get it. So far, so good. Keep up the good work!

Yeah my guy is 5 years old and if I told him to come and he ran to me to play growl I would be happy. At 10 wks that is pretty damb good. Keep it up and you will be fine. I was afraid to do off lead work when I got Rocky cause I took the never allow a pit bull of lead in public places way too seriously. Wish I could go back and re do.

I have a good sized fenced in back yard. Gonna need some chicken wire around the bottom of the fence soon, but i don't want to have to walk him out back every time he has to go out for the rest of forever. Only time he is off the leash is out back.

Oh yeah well that gets better I also had to put chicken wire under the fence because Rocky but after I did it he grew so fast chicken wire still there but he would get stuck if he tired. When we first got ROcky our yard was not fenced and I would not allow anyone in the family out there with him of leash for a second. I wish I had maybe he would not be so inclined to bolt if someone accidentally does not latch the gate. Otherwise he is good when coming in from outside when called. If he gets through the gate he is off exploring and ignoring. Although the most recent incident he came running right back when I called him. First time ever he got a bully stick for that. You might want to find other fenced in places than your back yard to practice re-call I wish I had done way more of that too. Just not alot of fully fenced in areas up here in the country. Even the baseball fields not complete fence.

at 10 weeks old he has the attention span of a gnat.. take him out on leash for potty so that he will always be with you and if you call him he cant run and play from you. stay outside until he goes potty, then treat/praise right after he goes outside (never treat once back in house) and make it great that he pottied outside.. then bring him back in.. he is a baby and his brain is not fully developed yet to understand what you want..
and he should be NEVER off leash until his recall is 100% bombproof.. and at this age it wont be.. he is a BABY

Get yourself a nice long lead to work with him in the yard.
