I was wondering how you can teach a young dog not to 'slap' you. lol Honey has started hitting me with her big front paws for attention and it really hurts!! My arms are full of scratch marks. She also does this when I am petting her...She thinks she needs to have her front paw on my leg or on my arm....It would be cute if she wasnt so big and didnt dig her nails in!!!! Ive been turning away from her when she does this but then it just becomes a game of her doing circles around me to see my face She is a brat!!!!!

rufus does that occasionally i taught him NO PAW by saying that and removing his paw from my arm, and when he would smack me i would say NO PAW and then stop what i was doing and walk away. he got the hint lol , but when friends come over he thinks they are fair game lol and will bitch slap anyone he pleases....so now we are working on that as well

Yeah we have had that problem too. And it can be very unexpected. Rocky mostly does it to my oldest son and my husband. Occasionally me when he really is seeking attention. The worst is when he jumps up both paws and stretches digs those talons in. Y....ouch. But a slap in the face can leave a nice red mark. I suppose figuring out when they are going to do it would help. really paying attention to when and why they do it.
