Jackie was doing so well "going" outside in the same spot for the first month we had her. Since then, the ground has been snow covered.
Well now that is is almost completely gone, she wont go in her designated spot, she seeks out snow covered patches.
argh! any help?

Keep her on leash and bring her to a snow-less patch?
You should make sure to walk your dog on a variety of surfaces so that they do not develop a "substrate preference" and will go when they have to go, where they need to go (outdoors, obviously, not indoors). (Mine will go on grass, snow, dirt and pavement. I also walk my dogs, they do not go into a yard with a specific potty spot. But you can still, through consistency, teach a dog to go in a specific spot in the yard as well as on a variety of surfaces while walking/out on leash.)
If she doesn't potty in a designated amount of time (5 or 10 minutes), bring her back inside *carefully* supervised, then take her back outside to the desired potty spot in a short while.

LOL, our Dara LOVES the snow and as it is melting it takes longer to walk her because now she prefers to go on the snow too. Hopefully it willl snow again! All kidding aside I am assuming that once all the snow has melted and there are not patches for her to pull toward it will go back to normal. For Dara the snow catches her pee and keeps it away from her body very well so I think this is her primary reason fro seeking it out. She is a very clean clittle girl

This is what i think i needed to have someone tell me i just had "pee" down on a command in any grassy area, regardless of where it was, and then the snow came. Seems that i need to put more work in Jackie with generalizing behaviors b/c she seems to not do that as well as my last one!

Right now Cleveland goes #2 in the same spot...on top of a snow hill. It's getting a bit crowded there now. Not sure where he'll chose once it melts. So far it is the perimeter area which is fine with me.

snow is mostly all gone and she's back to her "spot" when on leash.
However, if i let her off leash, she pretty much goes where she wants argh!

Snow mostly gone? Oh I wish. My yard still has deep snow and now it is frozen. Cant walk out there to clean up the poop. ROcky still tries to get to the perimeter to poop but if he cant he will go as close as he can. As for pee he is peeing on any snow banks he can find. Usually my new plants get hit. I have been learning over the years which plants can hold up to his pee.
