So Chubby lately has just been flat-out refusing to walk! If its snowing or raining or there is too much rain on the ground he will literally just go right beyond our apt. building entrance to where a tree is, pee and sometimes poop about two feet later and drag like hell to go back inside. I have tried dragging him until he decides to walk but he never does! He just leans back and tries to hold his ground (which apparently he does better than me! lol). He also mouths the leash (its attached to his Easy Walk harness) but doesn't try to bite it, just mouths it if I continue to pull. I have also tried getting him to follow me with a few treats but it doesn't really work when he would prefer to go back home instead of follow the yummy treat. I'm getting quiet a workout, but there has to be an easier way, right? He's such a princess sometimes!!

Oh that stubborn Chubs! Have you had his legs/back/hips etc checked out by a vet yet? Or it could be he just doesn't like walking outside when it's cold. But I would rule out any physical problems.

Let me tell you, he will run like the wind and pull like the devil once we turn around and he knows we are heading towards the apt. building. He also doesn't seem to mind the walk when the neighbor and I walk our dogs together (she has a female boxer). I know he has mild arthritis in his back legs but since he has been on joint supplements he has done great. I feel like it really may just be a stubborn Chubs thing, lol.

Sugar maybe the diva that he is needs the little booties.
Seriously though Harley is the same way if it is raining or snowing we have to drag her outside. She goes as quickly as she can and heads home. I don't force her once she has done her business we go home. SHe is a bit more tolerate of the snow but rain forget it-it is a lost cause. Back in the day I would get all suited up-boots, raincoat, etc. and I would also put a raincoat on her. I would be like that's it Harley we are going for a walk we would literally get down the driveway and she woud just pancake....LOL

rufus wont go out at all if its raining...he will lay in bed and even if i put the leash on him and try to drag him out of bed he plays the dead weight game and refuses to move. he has held his potty for 10 hours during rain storms.... no matter what i try he refuses to go out if he hears its raining..

Benny used to do that when it was really cold or rainy. I usually just took him home after he did his business, because I was equally miserable!

Yeah, but lack of proper walks is making him mouthy and extra bratty again. We have a neighbor downstairs that as complained to the super about Chubby making "too much noise" walking around (we are in the process of getting some area rugs) so i can't do a whole lot in the apt.

First off WTF Chubs is making too much noise walking?!
There is a thread on here somewhere about what you can do with your dog inside to burn off energy as many of us are faced with shortened walks due to the sucky weather the NE has had!
There was mention on the thread about playing hide and seek or making a flirt pole.

And the box game, tricks, service dog work.
If it is raining or too cold Rocky barks at door but then refuses to go out. I will admit it is bad but it works. I say "Cat", he goes out. To him a cat is a squirrel a bird or anything that does not belong in the yard.

Also I have another trick. If he really refuses to go out like when it rains for days. Then he has to be walked its the only way he will go. I have been guilty of putting on rain coat leashing him up going out onto the back deck and letting go of leash and he walks the yard like I am right behind him. I keep a close eye on him though in case the leash were to get caught. My heart goes out to you all that live in apartments and have to go out all hours.

Poor Chubbs. The neighbor needs to chill out. It's a pet friendly building so every tenant should realize it might get noisy at times... but claws on a floor shouldn't be a b!tchable offense. Poor guy can't sit around and sleep all day.
Better weather has to be around the corner... but in the meantime maybe the booties and a windproof type jacket would help the poor cold boy.

Ok, Lola and Ergo have been my only dogs and they also will not go out in the rain. So I ask you all... is this 'not wanting to get their paws dirty' a pit bull thing, or do other breeds do it this much as well? Because they are ridiculous when it comes to bad weather...

He's got Jackie-itis. She hates the wind and Rain. She went one step out the door today and sat on the back step. I had to drag her out in-between the raindrops. +1 on bratty and mouthyness. Nothing burns her energy like running so we now run and play fetch inside as bet we can

One of my dads Ausies does same thing. She does not like to get her paws wet. The other one rolls in the puddles and loves the rain. Rocky I thought dislikes water all together especially after he fell in the pool at a friends house. But he went in the lake after a stick. the Sh*t out of me.

Chubby has 'pinked' himself then because he is a pretty pretty princess. And it seems he isn't alone

But I think I like Pink better. My dad calls his female aussie who hates the rain a real princess. What would that make Rocky he acts the same.

Lebowski won't go out in wind (not kidding), any form of precipitation, or if there are loud scary sounds outside.
None of them will go out in heavy rain. Dharma will not go out in snow or if it's too cold.
But we always make them go anyway. Suck it up, pups! ;D

OK seriously, where is the pitbull 'never back down' spirit? Its become the 'never back down...unless its cold. Or raining. Or too windy. Or too slushy...you know what? I'll just back down into the blanket and go back to sleep"
lol

Sugar, I would say that Brandy shows that "never back down" spirit. That, or she's just too stupid to know better, lol! Even though she has a very soft temperament, she plows head-first into everything she does. Doesn't care about wind, rain, snow, or cold. She was the only one who went out in the blizzard to potty with no coaxing or complaints.
