There is a rescue that needs help at adoption days. They are in the central NJ/Cranford area. (They are all-breed but Pit Bull-friendly). I will put you in touch with the person who is the contact, so PM me for info. This is the rescue: www.petfinder.com/shelters/NJ70.html

i really wish they would contact mastiff/corso rescue for the corsos they have... Yeah, I'm actually gonna call her and find out why they haven't. That's usually my first course of action when there is a rare breed in a shelter, to ask why haven't they contacted rescue. Typically what I find, however, is that there is some behavior issue being the reason why rescue won't take the dog (I have mixed thoughts on that).

I fostered through this group, they've got a "no breed is inherently bad/dangerous" mindset from what I can tell. They took a chance on Devin when the city pound said she was so withdrawn that she'd never be placeable, so it wouldn't surpise me if they took a chance on the Corsos as well. Btw Bosco is cute but Bebe www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=10673023 is just about the most perfect dog I've ever met. Smart, playful, loves EVERYONE she meets, gorgeous coloration and eyes. Now that she's no longer a puppy she'll be harder to place but I can't understand how, I've literally never met a more pleasant dog to be around. The why's and how's of what dogs get chosen can be puzzling.

I know Charlotte used to go to the inner city shelters and pull dogs off death row - now, I'm not sure where they are getting most of their dogs. They've always been a group that focuses on the tough and hard to place cases. With Nancy leaving, they really need a good, solid volunteer to help with adoption days, etc.
