Important things to remember when posting on the forum:
Most of us do not know each other personally and with that being said, we do not have the luxury of being able to always know exactly how to interpret things said via the internet. People can easily misconstrue things being said and/or make assumptions about what the other person may or may not have meant. With no personal point of reference it is easy to feel like someone is being antagonistic or hurtful - but we would like to think that no one on here would purposely want to hurt someone or belittle them.
If someone feels like a response to their post is questionable let's hope we are adult enough and mature enough to ask the other member to explain what they meant rather than engage in behavior unfitting of any of our awesome members here!
Before you post, ask yourself:
*How would I reply to this person if he or she was standing in front of me, rather than as a faceless entity behind a computer screen;
*Should I chose to respond assuming the worst about the person, or should I take the high ground and assume this is a person with their own unique experiences and opinions, and approach the conversation from a place of empathy and willingness to understand;
*If I am engaging in conversation with someone who has completely different opinions than me, I will agree to disagree; and choose to walk away as opposed to engage in an argument if the other person cannot do the same.
Remember, RUDENESS, NAME-CALLING, AND NASTINESS is *not tolerated on this forum* PERIOD!!! We all have bad days, we all fly off the handle at times. But the one benefit internet discussion has over face to face conversation is you can STOP, BREATH, THINK, COLLECT YOUR THOUGHTS and THEN reply at a later time. So if a conversation is getting heated, take advantage of the venue! Wait, reply later.
And just as a reminder, although we all have different opinions and backgrounds on this forum, and we must be respectful of that, this forum is owned and operated by RPB; therefore, the content of this forum reflects our position statements. That means the following cannot be supported or allowed on this forum:
*Promotion of or training advice supporting use of AVERSIVES (i.e. shock collars, prong collars, choke collars, alpha rolls, etc) - we recognize some members here may use training tools or techniques that RPB does not recommend; ultimately, it is your dog and your choice to use what tools/techniques you see fit to use.
*Unethical breeders/breeding practices, puppy selling, stud service (ie. advertising your breeding services); American Bully promotion/support falls into the category of unethical breeding and is therefore not allowed.
*Any support/promotion of dog fighting, rolling, testing, etc.
