This happened several months ago but I would like suggestions. My dogs have been well socialized and get along well with each other as well as friends who bring their pit over, but about 3 month ago I had a female in heat and I had her in the house to prevent anything from happenig because she has a skin condition and I did not want her bred and she happened to go into heat three days before her appt. to get spayed anyway. Ihad all the other dog in the back with me some were playin fetch and the others were up by our pull through gate. Well they all started barking. There was a little fuzzy terrier dog lose trying to dig under my fence and I ran him and took all of my dogs in the house and went to town. Well when I came home he was in my yard and I ran him out of my yard and called the animal shelter. Well I went inside after I had blocked the area off where he had gotten in and started letting my dogs outside to pee. Well while we are outside on potty break he got in the front yard I guess he climbed the fence and came around back where we were. Of course the obvious had happened but my dogs listened very well and I keep tie outs staked in various spots in the yard. I got all of them called of and tied up, but I couldn't save the little dog he was too far gone. Well now two of my dogs are showing agression towards small dogs. Only if someone is walking by the house on the sidewalk. They are perfect out in public on a leash. Can I curb the behavior make it stop. How do you recommend doing so?

Your dogs killed the small loose dog? Oy. What was the outcome of that? (Legally speaking? Was an owner ever found?)
Once a dog gets to practice aggression, yes, that aggression is likely to resurface.
I'm disturbed to be honest by some of the stuff that's been posted that's happened to you/your dogs - I worry that your dogs really aren't contained properly as they seem to get in trouble - serious trouble - often. Please don't feel like I am judging you or trying to run you off - I really want you to stick around, and hopefully you can learn some techniques to keep your dogs and others safe and sound.
How is the dog that was shot, btw?

Well due to the fence only being in 4ft I don't allow my dogs up there in more. My fence is 6ft in the back and that is why I always take them back there. That is why I figure he came in the front is because he couldn't slink in the back. That is where they are always at. The reason D.J. evem got out front was because he dug under the gate after he broke the cable but I filled that in an concreted a slad about 2 ft wide under each side of the gate. I only keep two dogs outside all the time and they are in kennels that are stapled in the ground with 12" spikes and the kennels are topped as well. They have never even tried to get it. They are just really layed back. An owner was never found but it climbing over my fence into my yard would have made me not resposible. He is fine. He doesn't even realize or at least I don't he does that he got shot. I always heard pit bulls where tough but I had no idea.
