So a few hours ago we had another fight. This time inside, right under my feet. Once again, over nothing that I could see. Clean floor, no toys, treats, chews. I managed to pull Cleveland away only to have Mac get to him between my legs. It took both my daughters to pull Mac off. I guess Winston joined in the altercation by biting Mac, not attacking, but nipping.
I have an email out to a friend to see if she can foster Mac. He may end up at Judys if I can't find him a place to go. I don't know what has crawled up his butt, but I'm pretty much fed up.
Cleveland is on leash with me, but I don't think I need the leash. He hasn't left my side all day, and has avoided Mac. I would stick Mac in a crate, but I can't get him into one to save my life. So I will just be a micro manage and if i can't be with Cleveland he'll be in his crate. I'm just really pissed. I can't figure out what is setting Mac off. I don't know if he's just turning into an a$$hole or if he has just decided he doesn't like Cleveland at all. I do try to give each dog their individual attention to keep any jealousy at a minimum. No one gets a treat unless they all get a treat etc. He gets plenty of attention so I can't figure out what his deal is!

Oh no. I'm so sorry Mel. Unfortunately, it seems like Mac sees Cleveland as someone to pick on.

So sorry to hear about another altercation. You might think about crating/rotating for everyone's safety. I never had to do it or even heard of crating/rotating until we got Beastley. Fat Boy was fine with him for 6mths then all of a sudden he decided Beastley wasn't welcome. Fay Boy bum rushed Beastley from behind. Do you know how hard it is to separate 130lb Mastiff and a 70lb APBT? It didn't end up pretty. 12 staples and 3mths of healing along with the cost of vet bills was enough for me. I started crate/rotate and I was diligent about it but my husband was careless or thought they would be ok again. Once again Fat Boy got another opportunity and attacked, thank goodness it wasn't as bad but when I got home and saw all the blood over my husband and both dogs. I freaked. Beastley was sent to the vet because his elbow kept popping out but the vet couldn't get it to do it and said he may of strained it and keep him on bed rest for a couple of weeks as well as cleaned up his wounds. Now he knows he has to be diligent in making sure they are always separate. Beastley still has periodic issues with the leg so I know a time will come and he will have to have surgery

I'm doing a weird version of crate rotate right now. I can't get Mac into a crate at all. You can't bribe him with food, nor can you shove his fat a$$ into the crate. I've put Cleveland in the crate when Mac is wound up to play. I have kept Cleveland leashed to me. I've also leashed Mac to me this evening to Winnie and Cleve could play w/out Mac flipping out.
Hopefully tomorrow I can find a place for Mac to go. Might even hit the ex up to see if Mac can be his shop dog during the day. Maybe a break from home will help chill him out.

a break wont help, mac is not going to change, you are better off doing a room/rotate with metal gates from now on.. you also dont know if cleveland is giving signals to mac that you cant see, like a stink eye or something like that... i would just room/rotate from now on

Sounds like a C&R situation is needed. If Mac doesn't like being crated, try "bedrooming" him. Just place him in another room while Cleveland is out. Switch them around every few hours. I do this a lot when I don't feel like crating mine and it works well. Just make sure you don't leave doors open or let dogs escape when you enter or exit.
Good luck!

I used the bedroom rotation yesterday and it worked out pretty good. Did it today as well and it would have went great I'm sure. Except my daughter let Cleveland out side for business, but didn't lock Mac back up before he came in. They got into a fight that she couldn't' break up. (I wasn't home) Mac is now at one of my ex's sons house. He can stay there for a couple of months until his other brother can take him. Tomorrow I'll be heading to the vet to get some antibiotics for Cleveland. He doesn't need stitches or anything, but he does have a lot of puncture wounds. He's doctored with neosporin right now. He's doing fine though. I'm not so fine, but I'll live

OMG Melonie. I'm glad that Cleveland is okay, but I am so sorry that this happened again. At least you're able to send Mac to your ex. After Lebowski became DA, I was depressed for months. He and Otis had been the best of friends, until Lebowski hit maturity at a year old. It can be really challenging getting the other members of the household to understand how dog aggression works and to get them on board with following the c/r rules.

Awww poor Cleveland! He looks like such a sweetheart. Murphy sends his sympathies, he was jumped by a Lab a few years back. He hates Yellow Labs now :-(

Poor Cleveland!! Mac really did a number on him! Hope it goes well at the vet tomorrow. I'm so sorry about all of this and really hope it all works out for you and your pups.
