Advice on Rescue Remedy please ...last night we had our upteenth night of rain-time for the frickin ark ya'll-and Ophie finally fell asleep around midnight. I woke up a few hours later melting from a hot flash, just then the thunder cracks, I trip over poor Oph and she pukes all over my feet. Can you give them the Resue Remedy just in case it's gonna rain? Does anybody have advice for night sweats? How about getting dog chow and leftover dim sum out of a wool carpet? :

Poor Ophie! I think giving the Rescue Remedy if there's a chance of thunderstorms would be okay. As far as getting yucky stuff out of carpet, we got rid of all our carpet a few years ago. Much easier to clean up these the messes these nasty little dogs leave for us on the hardwood and slate tiles we put in instead!

Could try something I have done. Get thunder sounds and or if it happens while awake. Reward during the sounds. I had to do this with Rocky when our hot water heater went. He was terrified of the sound of the pipes hammering. So I took him to where the sound was the worst and every time the sound happened I rewarded him with a click and a treat. He still does not like the noise (he associates pipe hammering with sprinkler system coming on) but instead of hiding and trembling he just goes behind coffee table where he knows he wont get sprayed by sprinkler but he can still see what is going on. I have done this with thunder and with fireworks as well. It has helped him to think good things happen when those scary sounds happen.

I was at work during some bad thunderstorms here, by the time I got home I found Chubby had dragged his blanket from the living room (where the windows are) into the bathroom (I'm guessing to hide...but still be comfy)

Aww Chubby! That just proves that Chubbs really is a person in a pit bull body. Hides his pills, steals things from friends, and drags his blankie with him to hide in the bathroom in comfort.

That's cute about Chubby, Sophie has her squeaky security buffalo.Doesn't stop the quaking but she carries him around anyway (lays her head on him and gently tries to gnaw off his head...awwww). The reward idea is tricky because she won't eat during a storm. One rainy afternoon we had ribs n she took hers to a corner and didn't touch it until the sun came out hours later.
