My poor sweet baby has been limping and/or non-weight-bearing since the 4th of July. I looked him over that night and found a scab on his paw and thought maybe he had stepped on a burning ember from fireworks. When he was still not walking on it on the 6th, I took him into the vet.
Well, because he was 99% non-weight-bearing on it, we did x-rays (to the tune of $200) of his whole leg, but stinker butt was non cooperative since he wasn't sedated, and they had a hard time getting films off him. We were sent home with some pain meds & that definitely seemed to help, as he started weight-bearing maybe 50-60% of the time.
Today was his re-exam that I almost cancelled because he was doing better, but given how tough he is and the fact he still wasn't fully using that paw, I opted to take him in. Lo and behold, a new vet looks him over, finds where his "toe" didn't feel right and we find he has a through-and-through break on his toe.
Poor lil bubbykins! At least we found it this time - and I totally can't blame the other vet for missing it, because he wouldn't cooperate with them and we couldn't really figure out where he was sore as he hates his paws being played with anyway.
So, despite that his "best friend" Echo is coming from PA for a visit, I've gotta try and keep Andrew from his typical antics. I went out and bought him a teaser ball since I figured it's something he can do without running around like a madman as per usual.
