"The Hunger Games" series by Susanne Collins. Aimed for young adults but holy cripes I had horrible dreams the entire time I was reading the books. Coming out as a movie next year and I'm beyond stoked. Can't recommend the books enough. Just read the first book (about two chapters into part 2 now). All i can say is Oh.My.God! I love this book, but yeah it make really mess with you (especially if you are reading it while having lunch!! lol, felt so guilty. Although with the way things are going, I wouldn't be surprised if those types of games ever come true. ps: Stupidly excited about the movie now, lol

Just finished book two of the Hunger Games (Catching Fire). I told myself after the last book that I would wait for the third book to be in paperback before I bought it. Ummm...doubt it. I hate hardcover novels (don't fit into my purse well, big and bulky and more expensive).
But...
Darn it all to hell if I probably won't just buy the last book in hardcover during my lunch break, lol.

I love hard cover books. Love paperbacks. But, we don't have a bookstore here, so I order a lot of ebooks, audiobooks. I'm about 1/2 way through Hunger Games... already have the next two lined up.

Finished hunger games. It ended almost like I suspected it would, but the final twist was nice.

Just finished the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy.
I wish they weren't YA books. Great story, but I wish there had been more!

Just finished the third book in the Hunger Games trilogy. I wish they weren't YA books. Great story, but I wish there had been more! that was my feeling. For me it was just OK.... but a typical YA; kind of pared down and simplified. I have really enjoyed listening to 2 actors read their audiobiographies.. Rob Lowe and John Lithgow. well written and as you'd expect, expertly read. Did you know Rob Lowe had dated Cary Grant's daughter? I didn't!

I agree about Hunger Games trilogy ending: It was just a little to "wrapped up in a neat bow". Wished it wasn't YA because then it really could have gone to a grittier place.
Reading "The Hellbound Heart" which is the book the movie Hellraiser was based on. Not bad, veeeeery creepy.

I'm reading Anne Rice's latest, Wolf Gift. I've been excited about it, hopefully it lives up to expectations! Anyone buy ebooks from Amazon? I don't understand why a digital version of a book is more expensive than the copy I can buy at the grocery store. B&N is the same way. I've started using this site: www.ereaderiq.com/ A series that I have all the paperback editions too, is coming out soon, release price is 14.99. I can go to the store and get it for 7.99! Patience is needed to wait for the price drop. But on my favorite authors, it's a bit hard! I did download a program called Calibre to convert my old epub/lit versions over to mobi, and vice versa. It doesn't have an option for ibook, but you can convert it to a format the ipad will read. Maybe down the road there will be a standard, but I doubt it.

Just read a graphic novel called Beasts of Burden. Its about dogs (and one stray cat) that essentially use smarts and supernatural gifts to help solve an evil that invading their town. It deals with tough themes so its not quite as "for kids" as it sounds (not supposed to be for kids anyway). One short tale made me cry, but its really awesome overall. Highly recommended.
It also has a really funny pug.
