Weird last night, the only time Ophie ever growls or shows aggression is when she's in the car with me at night and someone approaches the car. Even then if I smooth her fur and reassure her she looks at me and sits calmly. Last night she was laying in my arms sleeping and hubby came in to go to bed. She usually gets up and snuggles into her own bed as soon as he comes in. But last night he came in and she looked at him and that was a definite growl. I've told him about not rough housing with her at certain times and that staring in her eyes is not a good thing. And she's great with him during the day and keeping him company. Was she guarding me for some reason? She just didn't feel like moving off the warm bed? I dunno, weird...what should I do in such a situation? Obviously it spooked hubby

Weird too because if he's the first one in bed she lays the same way with him. When I get in bed though she barely blinks, I was actually trying to figure out where the noise was coming from I was so suprised

Not an expert in behavior, but if it were me she would loose all bed/furniture privileges until she earned them back. Growling in non-threatening circumstances (ie. your hubs wasn't threatening her at all) cannot be tolerated.

I've read that too, that she needs to earn back being allowed on our bed now.

It's the same as those little "purse dogs" who get snippy at anyone who approaches the holder of their purse.
She needs to learn that you and your husband are the bosses, not her and you.

PS your sure she was not growling in sleep right? Just thinking about it as ROcky is next to me on couch growling but he is sleeping having dreams. But if you are sure she was awake and directly growling at husband for wanting her to move then it is time to put foot down.

Her butt needs to be kept off the bed and furniture. No Free Lunch, time! (Aka NILIF)
