When I got Lilly I was told she was house trained. For the most part Rhett was too. Now that Lilly is with us, he's turned into a pisser, and she is squatting everywhere. I am going to take her in to check for a bladder infection, but I talked to her prior owner today who was surprised that she was peeing like she is. I am wondering if this is an issue of who the top dog is in the house. For the record Winston is soiling in the house. How in the world do I get a handle on it? I stick to a routine, so that should make it predictable for them. I make a big deal when they go "potty", "outside" and give them lots of scratches and such. What do I do! I cleaned my carpets the other night w/ an enzyme cleaner, that hasn't slowed them down any. I'm at the point that I am going to buy a good carpet cleaner just so my house doesn't stink like pee! ???

holy shit!! i would get belly bands for both boys while in the house, if they want to have a pissing contest they can just piss on each other. is lily spayed? i would double check that, and double check for a UTI. either she has a raging uti or is going into heat ..

I missed typed, Winston is not messing in the house. Just Lilly and Rhett.

belly bands... for whoever is pissing in the house.. and i would keep lilly on a leash 24/7 and remove ALLL freedom.... everything.... make her earn the slightest thing... food, pets, walks, etc...

In the meantime...we had a border collie who was housebroken but I was working long hours and the kids weren't getting her out so there was a field of pee down the hallway. When I quit that job I got it under control but...I recommend on of those less expensive steam cleaners-the heavy duty ones are for rent in some supermarkets but there are lighter fairly inexpensive ones. They tell you what soap to use but I made a mix of water, a dash or two of Meyers lemon verbena house cleanser ( organic more or less, smells great) and a bit of bleach. Let it dry well before anybody walks on it. Then at least everything smells fresh while you're working on the situation.

I might get one of those myself, looks like it might be sturdier than most

I bought one of those steam cleaner vacuums once. Thumbs DOWN! They never work like the commercial ones.
I do like a product made by Dyson called Dyzolve (I think). It was a moist crumbly substance that you sprinkled on, let dry for a bit, and sucked back up. I liked the smell of it, too. I only had one room of carpet in my last home, and it was light tan. Yuck! I will never, ever do carpet again. I think I'd rather concrete!

I'm really disliking the carpet thing. My bedroom is a very light beige, but with dogs it ends up a weird color of muddy tan.

Yes Melonie I can relate, no color seems to hide fur and pee no matter how much one stays on top of cleaning. Of course after almost three decades of kids and critters in the house we've made peace with it. When we see a home decorated in white on white, me n' Hubby shake our heads and chuckle together
