I don't support Amazon b/c they sell cock and dog fighting materials...like "how-to" books. Ugh.

I don't have a problem at all with historical material. I'm pretty much a free-speech kinda gal.

Nor do I, but the materials sold there just shouldn't be available, in my opinion. I'm not easily offended, either and appreciate free-speech though Specifically, the cockfighting materials which very much are NOT historical: tinyurl.com/57sdmstinyurl.com/5jksxv (Not pit bull related but worthy of reading the comments/reviews...) I have a couple of Stratton's books I have read and referred to for uhem...historical reference but I bought them secondhand at local bookstores and would never have supported his publications by purchasing them new. But that's just me.

Unfortunately, if I boycotted every company that sold some written material or product I had an issue with, I'd probably not be able to survive. For instance, every supermarket I purchase food from sells products from companies I find morally objectionable. Make that every drug store, as well. I doubt I'd find a bookseller that didn't sell some sort of material from some author I didn't agree with or who I felt 'promoted' something I was ethically/morally opposed to.
Amazon has a free associate membership which brings in some extra change for RPB, and I'm thankful for this service. Since I am a free speech advocate through and through, I find little to object to regarding the products Amazon sells, even though I am 100% opposed to every sort of animal fighting.
Oh, I've bought all the Stratton books brand new. *shrug*

Gotcha! And I agree...it's tough out there to be ethical. There are pet stores (big box & family owned) that I would rather not promote or support b/c they sell e-collars...but damn if I can find the same products easily elsewhere.
I clicked the link provided but it doesn't go to a specific product. It links to a page with several products/books and actually I clicked the link several times with different page results, some including the cockfighting books and other not so lofty books.
So, I'm not sure what product is being promoted here.

There is no specific product being promoted. By clicking the link and then placing an order, a percentage of the purchase price goes to RPB.

FYI, Amazon caches your searches, so if you've been searching cockfighting or related books, it's going to recommend those and similar on your homepage. I doubt the average user is going to sign on and see animal fighting books on their home page.

K, thanks for letting me know, though the only searches I do there are to get the links to share in order to show what they sell.
As for the RPB promo, is there a code to enter for you to get the %?

Looking at/clicking a link is all it takes for Amazon to start recommending similar products. Since I clicked on the links you posted, when I sign into Amazon now, I see cockfighting crap on my home page. Ugh. This can be a handy feature sometimes, but other times it's annnoooooyyying hah There is no specific code, the link is a special access link that automatically registers at checkout

i got a ton of my pitbull books on amazon, and even found Dogs of Velvet and Steel on there . Ooo, good for you. I bought that book from Bob Stevens waaaay back when. I have some of his videos, too - protection training for Pit Bulls and something on catch dogs ....education-wise they are useless, but they are pretty cool collector's items now The book is hard to find for under several hundred dollars. (No, I wasn't aware he was selling any 'dog fighting' videos, although at the end of I think the catch dog one there is a small clip of a Japanese dog fight; nothing near as bad as some of the footage shown on Animal Witness or that horrendous Off the Chain dvd - way less of a 'how to', as well ) I'm looking for a reasonably priced The Complete Gamedog now.

I actually JUST placed my order with Amazon this AM before checking here. I dunno how it would work out with IGive and Goodshop though if I deviated to your link. I doubt they'd give credit for both?
And, hey, there are some books out there that I want to read for their educational purposes (knowledge is POWER hahah lol). I haven't looked, but maybe we can make a new thread about any books we'd like to pass on to others through here?

Yup, a book thread is a great idea. I'll start it up. I collect APBT books - even crappy (I.e. 'pro fighting') ones as long as I am not buying from/supporting the source. Just an obsession of mine. Not sure about the double credit, thing
