Well, I'm a nervous wreck! I've been updating the site for a couple months and am finally ready to go live with it. I'm transitioning from one hosting company to another and saving files, changing plans, etc, etc. I am pretty sure I have everything in order but it is NERVE WRACKING nonetheless. I am so afraid something went wrong, or I didn't save something properly, or missed something LOL Scott's been doing this at me for days. Anyhoo, send me some good vibes, please, that everything goes as planned.

the info help stuff should be on the home page, not the info page.. this way its up front ...most folks wont realize to click on the small link in the middle of the page...
your logo goes on top of the blue section a little, maybe move that up a little bit?
it looks ok, i dont know, for some reason its not speaking out to me.. i guess i just have to get used to the new look

Are you talking about the More Info/Help links on the home page? I see what you mean. The large logo, on the home page? I have opened it in both Firefox and IE and don't see it as overlapping anything....weird. Let me ask you, are these words: RPB is an education + advocacy organization dedicated to the American Pit Bull Terrier. We are based out of New Jersey.
RPB provides: extensive education through realpitbull.com & various services/campaigns; training & behavioral counseling; and more.
Members of the media and other groups: please contact us via: RealPitBull@gmail.com We will be more than happy to speak with you!on the home page half covered by the text blocks on the right? Because that's what I'm seeing in IE. Well, thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it.

the wording is on the home section yes.
yah on IE i have that here at work and the logo is a little over into the blue section..
your supporter page is white.. can you add some color to it and make it look prettier? its just a white page with the names on it of the supporters.. it needs more color...
this part here, there is no picture to look at where it says the pictures above:
Thinking about breeding your Pit Bull? Maybe planning on buying one from a breeder? Before you do so, please read on.
The above pictures are only a drop in a very large, very full bucket. Take a walk down .
you should put a link to the NJ puppy lemon law on your site as well...most people dont realize we have such a law (last night i told a new akita owner who got the puppy at a petstore who was at the vet cause the pup was coughing- can you say kennel cough LOL that there is such a law.... she had no idea..)

Oh I was wondering where your site went and when it'd be back up. I knew you had been working on it and figured you were making the "big change". It's gonna take some getting used to since I'm so used to seeing your old site, but once all the little bugs are ironed out I think it's gonna be spiffy! Okay, so just in browsing around and trying to get acquainted with the new layout and all... I noticed on the Rescuers Code of Ethics page, there's a double line of text right at the top and also at the end of the first paragraph. www.realpitbull.com/coe.htmlI. Introduction and Mission Statement throughout this document refers to dogs believed to be purebred throughout this document refers to dogs believed to be purebredAmerican Pit Bull Terriers (or American Staffordshire Terriers). Foster homes employed by signers of this Code of Ethics shall also be bound by the guidelines set forth herein. Mission Statement: The Ethical Pit Bull Rescuer holds restoration of the pit bull breed as paramount to their mission and activities. He/she holds public perception of the pit bull in the forefront of each decision and endeavor, and strives to place only the best representatives of the breed into homes that are fully capable of providing adequate care and training. Additionally, the responsible Pit Bull Rescuer understands that such activities require extensive knowledge of pit bull history, temperament, and behavior, and therefore educates themselves to the fullest extent before presenting themselves as a qualified, ethical Rescuer. qualified, ethical Rescuer. Also, I noticed you added a line "This document endorsed by: Our Pack, Inc, CA" If you're looking to add to that list, I'm sure Alicia will agree with me when I say... You can add New Hope to that list if you want since it's sorta our bible. LOL!

Thank you, Kat! I'll make the changes you suggested. And yes, I plan on adding NHPBR. I want to list all the endorsers. Also, if people could check the site out and tell me how the home page looks, that would be great. That seems to be the area with the most problems. I can't see any issues at home on either IE or Firefox, so it's difficult for me to tell what needs adjusting and what doesn't.

OK when you click on the organization and up comes the mission statement etc., under services the word preparation is misspelled in the 3rd paragraph and in the 5th paragraph you are missing an "a" in management. Thats all I saw so far. I still have to check the whole site out. Great job Mary.

May have been mentioned but under the resources page, under miscellaneous 'museum' is misspelled.
Rescue groups not make the cut? Or did I just not see the list?

Thank you, Kat! I'll make the changes you suggested. And yes, I plan on adding NHPBR. I want to list all the endorsers. Also, if people could check the site out and tell me how the home page looks, that would be great. That seems to be the area with the most problems. I can't see any issues at home on either IE or Firefox, so it's difficult for me to tell what needs adjusting and what doesn't. The only "issue" I see with the home page is down at the bottom where you've got links for "Our supporters" and "Our friends". Are these supposed to be 2 separate links or one link that takes people to the same page? The way it is, it looks like it should be 2 different links but when clicked, they both go to the supporters page. ******************** Also, on the COE page for owners... the same thing happened that happened with the COE for rescues page... double text. Code of Ethics for Owners of American Pit Bull Terriers/American Staffordshire Terriers Section I: Introduction Alliance sets up guidelines for owners of American Pit Bull designed to encourage responsible ownership. Pit Bull owners today designed to encourage responsible ownership. Pit Bull owners today face extraordinary challenges as this breed copes with the devastation of overpopulation, cruelty, irresponsible ownership, and breed specific legislation. Pit Bulls require dedicated, responsible and knowledgeable owners always, but especially so today given the current circumstances surrounding the breed. surrounding the breed.******************** On the PETA page, down on the second half of the page or so, the lines of text start to break, which can make the page very hard to keep up with and read. For example... If you weren't convinced before about PETA's anti Pit Bull stance, here's a little article written by the founder herself that should help you see the light about this organization with a VERY anti Pit Bull agenda.....
Note** Newkirk states below that she has been rescuing Pit Bulls from horrid situations for 25 years. What she doesn't tell you is what happens to those dogs after she rescues them - they are euthanized.....******************** On the Abuse page, the pictures of Blossom overlap the text captions. ******************** On the "get active page" under your rescue information... maybe put a link to your recommended rescues page there. (*I'm such a pain when it comes to web site critique aren't? LOL! Just tell me to shut up if ya want. ) The reason for this suggestion tho is, if *I* were an individual looking through your site for information, and I came to that page and read all of that stuff... and as a result wanted to start volunteering for a rescue near me... It'd be REALLY great if there was a link right there in front of me that I could click on that would take me to your list of recommended rescues. Otherwise, I would probably just exit off of the page without even noticing the link in the side menu for that page. Ya know? ******************** On your Help Out page... (think SEO here ) PLEASE NOTE: Read over the RPB Position Statements (see menu at left) before you apply. Rather than asking people to see menu at left - take that part out and just link to your position statement on that page - like this. PLEASE NOTE: Read over the RPB Position Statements before you apply. ******************** I LOVE this! 10 Best Reasons To Breed Your Pet Dog
10) You like the idea of having a house overrun by dogs you were unable to sell.
09) You'd rather spend all your money on dog bills than buy that new faux fur coat/build the new house addition/get that new car/buy a boat, etc.
08) You get to spend all your spare time at the vet's office.
07) Making enemies with the neighbors is a big priority on your list of things to do.
06) You never wanted a yard with grass anyway--mud is so much more stylish.
05) Staying up all night bottle-feeding sick/orphaned/bitch-rejected puppies is your idea of a good time.
04) You savor the idea of having to explain to the kids why Fifi didn't come home after that one-way trip to the veterinarian during labor complications.
03) It will be fun watching the kids' expressions when you tell them that all the puppies they were so enthusiastically looking forward to having, died.
02) Chewed-up furniture, peed-on rugs, and fur everywhere is THE new "look" in home fashion.
And the number one reason to breed your dog is......
01) Adding to the huge number of genetically inferior/homeless/euthanized dogs is something you've always wanted to do.******************** www.realpitbull.com/adrant.html - There's a rogue "All Rights Reserved" floating above (over) the text on this page... right about here: I encourage every breeder to look into the eyes of their dogs, then walk down the aisles of a high kill shelter and look into the eyes of those Pit Bulls with days to live, and truly ask themselves******************** www.realpitbull.com/management.html - blank page ******************** www.realpitbull.com/training.html - Before you choose a trainer or "behaviorist", please read this WARNING!! Did you want people to put the banner on their own server or image host? A lot of folks will right click then copy and paste the location from YOUR server unless you specifically ask them not to (and then some will still do it) which will eat up your bandwidth and could make your site go down. A good way to get around this is to offer them a way to link to your site with very little effort on their part... by hosting your banner on a site like photobucket. Have a look at our Myspace page for an example of what I mean. www.myspace.com/nhpbrAnd here's the code I used to put the text box with our link code... now it's a simple copy/paste for anyone who wants to use our banner and link to us.

I like the updated site!! But, the link to the RPB forum doesn't work. :-[
Home page looks fine to me, nothing seems out of place. I find that sometimes, if someone has a smaller computer screen, it will squish the site and make things out of place or overlapping.

Wow, thank you everyone. I never expected such thorough responses. This is a great help to me, and I appreciated it! I have gone over the above posts and I think I have addressed *juuuuuuuuust* about every one of them. I have to scan back over later and double check. I know there are lots of little things - spelling and grammer, probably links, etc - that will need to be adjusted, but I think the glaring stuff is just about all taken care of.
As far as the squishing/overlapping, I haven't had any luck in figuring out what's wrong. We THINK it has something to do with differences in resolution. Only seems to happen in IE, but verison doesn't seem to matter. Screen size doesn't seem to be the culprit, either. I am in touch with the hosting company who also supplies the site software so we'll see what they have to say. I'm hoping there is some sort of 'auto adjust' thing that I'm missing.
Ok, all for now!
