I hate people that judges animals. I took my 3 month old puppy to a avent that we had today and there was alot of people there. There was a little girl that ask me if she could pet my dog, I say yes u can. Her dad ask me what kind of dog she is I told him that she is a APBT. He told his daugter do not touch the dog anymore and lets go. He look at me and said she is cute and nice when she is little but she will take ur arm off. I want to say something mean to him but i hold my tounge. I hate people like that.

I know what you mean. I take my Bash out a lot to stores, just about everywhere I go which is acceptable unnder my circumstances. Usually I get surprsisng reception but, the other day I was in the drug store in a man said my dog was nice until I told him he was a PB, tyhen he told me he don't like them because he knew to many people that got aattcaked by them when he lived in NC. I just bit my tounge. In general I get compliments on his behavior he is a wonderful ambassador of the breed out in public. Here in VT there is not mant AMBT. Deb

I get the same thing with my pup, who just turned 4 months old. people think he's cute, then ask what breed he is, when I say apbt, 99% of the time they go from having a smiley face to one with distain. I do Try to educate people, I ask they they do some research, and have a look at this forum. i think all you can do is be polite, try to dispell the myth's, and ask folks to research the breed for the truth before making any judgments, or outlandish statments.

I'm sure we all get the same reactions once people find out they are pits. What surprises me is how many people don't recognize pits when they see them - because they just have that stereotypical distorted image in their head of what pits look like. A few weeks ago, our neighbor's son came over to play and then wouldn't come in the house. He said since his mom knew we got a pit, he wasn't allowed inside around the dog. My response, "Well, I guess you can't come over to play anymore if you can't be around the dog." I was that his mom had just made a blanket judgement about pits without having even personally met Babe.

I have the occasional problem, but mostly I find that people love my dogs! It doesn't seem to matter what the age...kids, the elderly...they all love them! Maybe I'm just lucky?
I do get some odd looks when I've got all 4 of them, but they're all so friendly that people seem to get over whatever preconceptions they had.
The other day some lady told me they should be muzzled...I just smiled and thanked her for her suggestion!

I deal with this on a daily basis because I am very vocal around these parts about my dogs and I want to just kick the crap out of people. I am very ill tempered and it takes alot for me hold my tounge and reinforcea more positive image for my babies.

I feel ya, People think Odie is adorable, but most people don't know he's a pit. At Awareness Day someone asked if he was a Mastiff and then a week later walking Odie, someone asked me what kind of pup he was and I told them he was a pit and she said he looks like he's part shepherd. I think it's his coloring. Blue Fawn with the black muzzle. People have no clue. I've shown people pics of him at work and they say he doesn't look like a pit bull. I said he is, I know his parents and they're ADBA registered.
