Organization known for its 1950s flair on pit bull terrier awareness hosts first annual gala November 4
New Jersey is about to have an opportunity to celebrate Pit Bull Awareness Day in style! Pinups for Pitbulls, a nonprofit organization committed to the restoration of the pit bull terrier’s reputation, is hosting its first ever annual gala in honor of America’s dog. On Friday, November 4, 2011, in Collingswood, New Jersey, from 7 to 11 p.m. you can join in the festivities too! All you have to do is purchase a ticket of which all net proceeds will benefit pit-bull-terrier-type dogs.
The event will be packed with renowned national experts in pit bull terrier advocacy, delicious food by one of the best local caterers, live entertainment, an eclectic art auction and other fabulous door prizes.
“We are tired of the glum days of dog advocacy and feel that creating a positive shift in the dog advocacy field will help bring new and needed attention to our cause. There will be bands, dancing, and more. We're keeping the mood happy, the food will be amazing and people will leave feeling empowered, inspired, and uplifted,” says Deirdre “Little Darling” Franklin, Pinups for Pitbulls founder and president.
The group is also coupling their Pit Bull Awareness Day celebration with the launch of their 2012 calendar! This year’s theme is FURgotten heroes, a tribute to World War II-themed art accompanied by pit bull terriers and their guardians. Like past years, the calendar is sure to feature some new and known faces of the national pit bull terrier advocacy movement. Calendar sales, just like ticket sales for the gala, all benefit pit-bull-terrier-type dogs.
"We are constantly trying to stay ahead of the curve for the dogs, and we do so in a creative and fun loving light, to attract the people we need to reach," Little Darling says.
And they do an impressive job of that!
