Barley passed this morning. He made it through his first treatment yesterday, and we brought him back to Emily's for the night. During the night his brain swelled and herniated. He basically had a stroke in his sleep and never woke up. CSU did try, but there was nothing that they could do. I don't have the energy to get into any more details right now, but his passing was peaceful and comfortable.
It was the treatment that exacerbated the swelling in his brain, but it was going to happen within the next week or two anyway. I don't regret our decision. I feel like we did right by him. He was a brilliant, wonderful boy and I miss him so much. Thank you for all of the support that has been given here on RPBF through all of this.
Barley is at peace, and Nine and Kuma were waiting to greet him at the Rainbow Bridge.

OH Suzi..........I'm so sorry. I was worrying all day about Barley and about you, too. Barley is at rest, and happy, and with Nine and Kuma, smiling down on you.

I am sooo terribly sorry Suzi. You did everything you could for him and then some.
I have no doubt he is on the other side happy and healthy and reunited with the rest of his family. RIP sweet boy.

Barley was so lucky to have a wonderful and loving mom like you. You did right by him and so much more. Take solace in the fact he is at peace and reunited with his pals. I'm so sorry for your loss.
