Good evening everyone!!
I met a forum mod at the post office yesterday and we had a fantastic time talking about all things APBT.
I have a 7.5-year-old rescued brindle pittie named Blake. He is my BABY. I adopted him in Santa Fe, New Mexico when he was about 10 months old, and I was 20. We have lived in 8 houses in 3 states, have driven tens of thousands of miles together all across the country, have spent probably the same amount of dollars at the vet (ha!), and through it all he's always been the best thing that ever happened to me.
Blake has some dog aggression/anxiety issues, and his health record leaves a lot to be desired (chondodystrophy, spinal arthritis, shoulder arthritis, slipped discs, a brittle ACL, food allergies, pre-cancerous papillomas, gallbladder malfunction, impacted anal glands, ear infections, cysts - you name it!) -- but he is the sweetest people-dog in the world, loves children, is a STAR for APBT public relations, is a great pittie/rescue ambassador, and even loves his kitty brother.
As for me... I currently am workin' for The Man at a 9-5 office job, but in the past I have worked as a journalist and a kennel tech/dog daycamp counselor. I have a degree in creative writing and journalism from a tiny art school in New Mexico. I also love singing, reading and traveling the US of A.
I currently split my life between New Jersey, where I grew up and am living right now, and Knoxville TN, where my fiance lives and where I will eventually be relocating (well, returning; I lived there for 8 months earlier this year).
I knew nothing about pits when I adopted Blake, but through owning him and meeting a ton of great dog people I am a total pit bull fanatic and am obsessed with educating the masses about the truth about them. I am pretty much a "crazy dog lady." I'm actually glad Blake does not like other dogs, because I would have 10 by now.
Hope to meet fellow North Jersey enthusiasts.
