Do you guys recomend letting a 4 1/2 month pup on a treadmill ? and if so, how much time would be the max..? I've heard that too much excersise on a treadmill can cause joint problems ect.

honestly, i wouldnt he is too young. you have to keep the joints safe as they are growing, and any high impact exercise could hurt his joints. i would just let him be a puppy and run and play for now.. once he gets older then a treadmill will be fine.

Ditto what Maryellen said. He's too young.

I learned this lesson the hard way. Although I didn't use a treadmill, I did push Zoe (my 3 year old) too hard when she was younger and the result was a torn ACL. $5000 later and lots of rehab and hard work, she's almost back to normal.
The tear wasn't 100% due to over-exerting her as a pup, but it certainly contributed. I have since been told to be very careful with exercise for at least the first 2 years.

Well...as per all of your advice, I've nixed the treadmill idea. Excersise is 2 40 min walks per day, if he looks like he's gettin tired we rest. On a side note, he still has that goofy rear leg thing when he runs..
