Hey there everyone,
So...recently I rearranged the bedroom and moved Viktor's crate to a different corner of the room. He went in with no problems the first time. The second time I was out and My boyfriend tried to put him in the crate with no luck (he had To go to work), so I rush home and put Viktor in with no problems, but notice he is really uncomfortable. He would barely lay down and whined a bunch, which is unusual for him. Figuring he needed a larger crate, we got him the biggest one we could find and now I'm trying to get him accustomed to the new one (starting crate training all over again) since this one is all wire and he used to be in a plastic one.
So...is it because I moved his crate that he developed an anxiety about it? Has anyone had their dog become "weird" about their crate before? He used to go in like it was his safe place and then it was as though he was afraid of it.
Thanks guys.

He may just not be comfortable with the new arrangement. Mine pace around when I move or wash their beds until I return them to their original spot and rub my arms on it. Also when you purchased a new crate it has a new feel/smell to it. You might try putting a blanket over it so it feels like a cave and maybe a blanket with your scent on it if he's not a chewer. Just a thought.

It could be because you moved it and now because it's a bigger different crate. Dogs don't generalize, and sometimes you have to recondition them after a change like that. It could also be something physical... maybe lying down in the crate is causing him pain or discomfort. I would rule out the physical causes first by having him checked out at the vet and go from there.

Well, after using treats and praise there was a lot of reluctance to go in there. So of course once I stop fussing he goes right in like no big deal. Haha!
