DETROIT — A Detroit-based nonprofit dog rescue group says it's received about $1.5 million in stock options from an anonymous donor to help build a no-kill shelter and humanely rescue strays in the city.
Detroit Dog Rescue said in a news release Thursday that the woman made the gift after learning about the group's ultimately unsuccessful efforts to save a stray pit bull named Ace from being euthanized last month by Detroit Animal Control.
Detroit Dog Rescue was co-founded by Monica Martino after city officials denied a Discovery Channel request to film her series “A Dog's Life.”
Mayor Dave Bing ordered a ban last year on reality television crews tagging along with police after crews were present on a raid in which a 7-year-old girl was shot and killed.

Very cool! Mayor Dave Bing ordered a ban last year on reality television crews tagging along with police after crews were present on a raid in which a 7-year-old girl was shot and killed. Ugh, really?? I'm not a fan of reality shows in general, but that is BS.
