Wow...does that look meant to be or what? So glad everything is going well. Getting a new dog is like the best feeling in the world.
Any name news yet? "Bola" reminds me of "Ebola" and he definitely doesn't look like a devastating disease.

Thank you everyone!!! ;D
Yesturday, last night, and today has continued going great! He didnt cry very much last night in his crate...He let out a couple barks then went to sleep. We took him out to my mom and dads to meet the crowd out there and he gets along with their dogs---he also caught sight of the cat and I think it would be our best interest to be careful with him around cats....He wanted to chase him bad.
Today we took him on a little walk around the neighborhood with Honey and he loved that! Hes now sound asleep on our living room floor.
We love having him around! He is such a well mannered guy. He continues impressing me with his manners. He doesnt even beg!!! If your eating he sniffs the air then just goes and lays down in his crate or across the room.
I have 2 questions right now--- 1. He hasnt been eating much. Since we've had him he's taken like 3 bites of food and that was because I fed him out of my hand. The shelter gave me a little bag of food (Its what hes been eating) and thats what Im trying to give him. Is there something I can do to maybe try and make him eat more?! His tummy is starting to look sucked in.
2. He is SO itchy! His skin has a rash on his chest and tummy and there are some patches of skin that are kind of balding. The shelter staff said that its because of laying on concrete and laying in urine. Is there anything I can do to relieve some of his itching?! I am going to be gradually getting him switched over to better quality food (Hes on Pedigree right now) but is there anything else?!

Oh yea...And about the name... So far Bola is sticking. Its really grown on me and he actually respondes to it. lol.... and I agree...at first I thought it sounded like a girly name, then I thought it sounded like a disease but its really sticking so we will see. Ive heard no other fitting names that I like.

are you taking him to your vet for a check? Certainly you would want to do blood test, check for worms, etc. The bald spots could even be demo. mange. I'm sure there's some medicated shampoo that would ease his itchiness.

Ok...good I didnt want him getting really skinny.
And I wasnt planning on taking him to the vet because the day before I brought him home he had a check up, blood work done, got dewormed, and neutered.....should I still take him?

My mom got a dog from shelter back in March and she did same thing would only eat from her hands for about a week. Now she eats like someone is going to steal it if she does not eat as fast as she possibly can. She also did not beg. Well that also did not last long. She is a junk food junkie.

If he had all that done the day prior, I wouldn't just yet. Wait a week or two and see if it gets worse. Who knows what conditions he was living in before the shelter.
I'd give him a good bath now anyway, since he was in the shelter. Try an oatmeal shampoo for the itchiness.
Cappy went straight from the car to the tub when we brought him home. He was covered in poo from his kennel and blood from a cut on my finger that I didn't realize I had till I started petting him. He looked downright pathetic! But anyway, it's good to get all the shelter residue off them anyway. They end up looking like different dogs. Heck, I walked past Snorts' kennel when I went to pick him up because I didn't recognize him clean! lol

Because of the neuter I have to wait a week for a bath. As soon as I can bathe him, I will tho!!!
His skin looks really flaky and in spots he has little red bumps...maybe if the bumps dont go away within the next week, well take a trip to my vet.
Lol! Poor Snorts was probably like WTH?! lol

He's awesome! Reminds me a little of Eko. When I brought Eko home from the shelter, he had horrible skin. Very flaky, and he had chewed a bald spot on his tail. After a few weeks of good food, and no fleas, his skin was 100% better. I think you'll see improvement. Same with appetite. He's still settling in, and you might see lots of personality develop over the next few weeks.
Congratulations. He's a handsome boy!

Thank you Mike! I hoping thats the case, and I think it probably is. He is sure itchy tho. And when I itch his back and chest with my finger nails I swear his eyes roll back in his head with pleasure lol. Poor little man. I need to pick up some oatmeal shampoo for him. Honeys shampoo smells girly. This morning he ate the most Ive seen him eat since I brought him home but I cheated ....I put little pieces of shredded chicken mixed in with his kibble. He gobbled up quite a bit!!
