www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=6067+10431+19822&pcatid=19822 I ordered this today, have a month to get ready but good to have ahead of time. They have rats for 4.99 down the street so when her birthday comes we'll be all ready to pick them out. <<can't let her know the ones we don't pick get fed to the shop snakes... , ooooh well>> With the rabbit cage we used to have there was only room for a hideout and chewy log. I like the bridges and space in this one.

Two name comments- Wrinkles is adorable fur a dawg and Castillo-Alverez is quite dignified...I like hyphenated names. Something that wasn't common that many decades ago...but a very good idea...let's you keep your own unique identity too

I would follow everybody's advice with safety just in case. We don't seperate a house of cats and the dog because the cats rule. But even with them, what they do to each other sometimes...just cat things like cornering each other with alotta noise and noticible scratches sometimes, but dogs can do so much more damage, err on the side of caution.

My question is why no one has dumped this boy from his position? It's like having the director of Planned Parenthood issuing mega pro-life statements, offensive to everything the organization stands for.

Oy that I'm still confused after reading all the posts. What can I do for the reactivity??? I suppose one concept is that when she sees a dog to work with her on calming down and focusing, then praising her for not going crazy. Problem is someone watching her performance wants to understandably get their dog as far away as fast as possible. I try walking her odd hours on routes where we're less likely to see other dogs, but that's not solving the problem.
Not to kvetch but yesterday I felt like I needed a neck brace all day, all night, couldn't even sit up once I got home from work. Today my neck is better but bruises big time and it hurts to breathe deep so some ribs must of gotten bumped too.
Open to all suggestions kidz...

I am oddly weirded out about being someone's wife. Its not that I don't want to be married soon. Its just the title. Wife. I didn't realize how weird this sounded until someone commented that "Holy crap, you are going to be somebody's WIFE". Its not an the upset or even the scared kinda 'weirded out'. Its like the weirded out you get if you saw a water buffalo in a clown hat. Awwww, that is sooo cute, lemme give ya a hug...it's gonna be okay. Practice writing it a few hundred times till it becomes second nature, find a new unique signature...it's fun actually... Everything takes getting used to: Somebody's wife Somebody's Mom Somebody's Mom in law Somebody's Gramma Each one takes some getting used to...s'wonderful though What's worse is when you write Mrs. Alvarez (right?) for the first time. That's enough to make you go a bit batty.

The inmates at my prison very rarely shock me. I thought I'd seen/read it all. Apparently not as I am sitting here horrified. I'm doing the security evaluation for this inmate and I'm reading through his record check: age 12 - raped a 13 year old; age 14 - murdered his mother's boyfriend and burned the body; and now he's back on a new murder conviction after beating and strangling a woman, and then dumping her body along the highway. HOLY CHRIST. Why this guy ever got out of jail and STILL didn't get the death penalty blows my mind. Ahma tree-hugging liberal EXCEPT on the death penalty, the only way to be certain they definitely will not commit another crime again...there are people wrongly accused of course. But if they do something heinious and #%^@*^& brag about it, don't even deserve a trial...even at 14

I was driving through the reservation to work, same traffic, same idiots and parked up off the road past the S turns- a truck with "Bomb Disposal Unit". You know everybody was moving a little quicker after that...waaayy in the opposite direction. Mentioned it to someone at work from W. Caldwell and she said there was a whole lotta police activity and helicopters around last night... Ummm okay uh, well the truck was ummm, cleaning up loose cartridges from the deer hunting up there and...well there's always police activity somewhere around here...the local news didn't mention anything...just weird...anybody hear anything???

And it makes me feel guilty or whatever...we do great at the reservation because off leash she listens and pulling me over isn't an issue. I've read about that idea, consistantly working with them on if you pull we. are. not. moving.
It's not even ongoing pulling really it's that sudden burst of energy There IS A DOG ONTHATSIDEWALKANDBRAWKBRAWKBRAWKBRUFFBRUFFBRUFF Crash

I'm sorry too, read a book about a chicken rescue and they mention some of the birds actually coming up for cuddles, like every other critter given the right situation, find peace in finding them good homes.
A book not to read this time of the year-Joan Didion's "Blue Nights"- someone who was writing books before we were all born, she lost her husband and daughter within a short time of each other and now at seventy-five feeling frail herself...skimmed ahead to take it back to the library...no way a story like that can end well...stream of what have you thoughts on loss, but must find something a tad more upbeat...

Went to take her picture and can't find her at the moment-big old house, Jimmy Hoffa is probably in the basement somewhere, so lots of hiding places. Twelve pounds of kitty so she'll be out looking for food soon.
Levon is trying to be her buddy, just laying casual near her. Last night they were walking together, oh and she discovered the kitty TV-the gerbil cage. Levon was here weeks before he discovered it. It's safe for the gerbil because it fits right into the shelf, room for air space but too tight for even a kitten to get between.
Beautiful girl, think she's going to fit in the family just fine...
