... I'm going to go out on a limb here and mention that history is written by the victors. That is the version we get taught in school. Is AFF trying to become a 'victor' here and re-write APBT/AmStaff/etc history? Giving us a gentle, non aggressive nanny dog instead of the courageous, loyal, bull dog we love? .... yes, I believe that's it exactly. You won't find anything but lowdrive, dog-social "pit bulls" on BR/BF/AFF or the pinker's rescue lists. Too hard. Can't turbocharge the adoption. Can't pretend that anyone can own them. So who will preserve the real thing? The breeders of course.... except for that little "don't breed while shelter dogs die" thing. Which is why I've always suspected an anti-purebred dog motive I've long suspected an anti-breeding/anti-breeder/anti-breed/anti-purebred motive as well.

someone just commented that they come from the hound group and never from terrier. This is a new one for me. WTF complete and total nonsense. There's a TON of documentation for both the "bulldog" and the "terrier" component in the "bull and terrier" .... ahem... types. Of which there were several, very closely related. People just absolutely make sh** up.

I could have sworn just the other day their website said pit bull type dogs. What transpired in the last couple of days...... What transpired is the blow up and the mass unfriending. They cast the die. They will no longer even try to pretend to want to get along with or understand breed people. They are going where they've long wanted to, but were afraid to. But once they became more afraid of the rebuttals and decided to circle the wagons, they figured they'd go full gambit. They may well, as Emily has suggested, come to regret this severely enough and soon enough to decide to eat crow and retract it - although their retractions have not generally been honest and open, more like "I do not recall ever saying that" a la some mafioso at a hearing. The Soviet style implosion I predicted may already have started in earnest. The next few days should prove fascinating. If there's a lot more tirading in favor of this latest bit of Newspeak, then they're digging in hard and we can only guess how surreal things will get in the coming weeks and months. If they stop talking issues and post nothing but "oooh, look how cute Pug and Bug are with their sunglasses on", they're likely in closed, emergency session and we'll see if they emerge on the side of sanity thereafter. I'm pretty sure that whoever has posted the last few AFF things is NOT Kim; it just doesn't sound like her. I think it's coming from higher up, whoever that is. I think one of them is testifying before the Md. study committee (maybe tomorrow?)... it will be interesting to read their take..

It's likely from the director.

It's likely from the director. I think it's probably Stacey or Bernice.

AFF just commented on a post saying: "the "nanny dog" is a feel-good story that's been making the rounds, but we are not aware of any reliable, documented evidence to suggest this phrase was ever really used -- and we are not sure what breed it's supposed to refer to"

This is a good thing.

It was just a comment on one of their threads, but it totally sounds like they are taking credit for it.

It was just a comment on one of their threads, but it totally sounds like they are taking credit for it. but it's the "don't know what breed it refers to" that makes my spin.. Are they stupid, ignorant or..... something else???

I think its too many chiefs and not enough Indians that might be part of the problem.
