I had to euthanize my fainting goat last night. He had a disease that left him with very painful abscesses that were highly infectious. I knew it was the right decision, but it doesn't mean that I'm not super upset about it :/ That just really sucks.

So sorry to hear it, Allison! You did the right thing, but I know it must still be tough.

So sorry to hear it, Allison! You did the right thing, but I know it must still be tough. Thanks, guys. I know it was right. I know that the way I did it was instant and painless. Yes, I did it myself. It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. In the end, I was not going to stress him out and have him in more pain (and risk mass infection) by waiting to go to the vet this evening. The old phrase is, "When you deal with livestock, you also have to deal with dead stock." My hope is that Shotgun, my little white goat and Gumba's best friend, is carrying his baby. I put her alone with Gumba as soon as she went into heat, so unless Abe got to her before I could move her, it's Gumba's baby. Gumba also bred a friend's fainter goat, so his sassy little attitude and stumpy little legs will live on!

Wrinkles is on a roll today. She's been barky and bossy all day. Wanting food, trying to break into the cupboards and fridge. The cherry on top was her knocking a pan of cooking oil off the counter. Luckily it was cool.
Some days it's like having a few toddlers in the house, all fussy, and naughty.

Oh Wrinkles has a new nickname. She was smelling a bit like lays potato chips last week so I've been calling her tater chip, or tayta.

Is it bad that a smelly dog makes me hungry for Lays?

So. Upset. Took Dharma to the vet this morning to check a new lump and sure enough. Mast cells. Scheduled surgery for the 17th. Vet wants to wait to see the grade of the tumor before we make a decision about doing another round of chemo. I seriously effing hate cancer.

So I'm definitely in better spirits about the orders extension. At first I wanted it, then didn't (mostly because I was having a bad day), and now I'm back to being fine with it. Jim is happy doing what he is doing, and we have never been stronger. We always had a good marriage, really. Of course we bicker and argue like anyone, but overall we were always happy. Now, though, it's a whole new level. You realize how much you love someone when they are in harm's way. It's a whole new kind of love...cheesy, I know, but true. I told him that if he wants to stay so that we have a better life, then I'm proud of him and I'm lucky to have a man like him.
(Though I did tell him not to sign the paperwork till I get my monthly visitor this month, because that would just be my luck! LOL)
