That is not training. That is appalling and setting pit bulls back a decade. One does not use aggression to stop aggression. What an idiot. Fay was trained to fight in her past life but love turned her into dog accepting dog. HE IS FIRED

Gale, you bring up an excellent point. Can you imagine using these methods with bust dogs??? The thought makes me want to puke! Dharma's trainer Laura had never worked with bust dogs and has been incredible with her. But there are more than a few @ssholes here in Chicago setting themselves up as specially qualified to work with bust dogs, and they're using these abusive methods. Makes me weep for those poor dogs.

WTF??????????? The guy handling her is supposed to be a trainer???? He acts like a complete novice. Aside from the jerking and smacking the dog in the face with the leash, which is flat out abuse.

Who the hell is this guy, anyway??? Never heard of him. Why does Animal Planet keep grabbing up these complete know-nothing idiots to air programs on. So how we train bull breeds is to jerk them around and smack them in the face with a leash???? I think AP needs some feedback on this.

Growing up I've always heard people say that tough breeds (bullies/rotties/mastiffs/etc) HAVE to be trained with pinch collars/choke chains and you HAVE to 'pop' them frequently because its the only way they learn (also how it doesn't hurt them at all because they have such thick necks that they were made for these kinds of collars only).
I'm sad, but not surprised that a lot of people still think this way (when I had my rottie her trainer put her in a picnh collar and if she acted up he would jerk it up and hold her front paws off the ground until she 'submitted'. We had to leave the lesson early because I was 14 and crying hysterically and screaming at the trainer). But what did I know, I was just an emotional kid right?

But what did I know, I was just an emotional kid right? which is particularly sad because the bullies are NOT "tough" breeds to train; in fact they are very very soft. Not that I think Rotts (which ARE tough) should be trained with harsh physical corrections either.

People just assume "tough-looking' equals 'tough to train'
Chubs is much easier to train for the most par than my last two dogs (rottie and lab/shepard mix). With him he just wants to learn.

OMG... that's just... I'd honestly rather they not air any shows with trainers if they can't find someone who knows what they're doing and who can get results using positive and humane methods. I'm so tired of seeing ppl smack or choke their dogs because they watch trainers on tv who "tell them" it's the only way to get their dogs attention.

Ok that makes me so sad as it reminds me of when I first took Rocky to training this ahole trainer did stuff to Rocky that almost ruined my pup forever. No offense to anyone but seems this guy in the video had same issue with accepting his feminine ways so he acts tough by taking it out on the dogs. It so pisses me off when I think about it and how I did not know any better although it upset me I did not open my mouth but I also did not go back again. Rocky did not need to be poped to sit. He just would sit if asked. But when petted for examination he jumped on the trainer so trainer grabed collar and twisted Rocky turned and snapped at him so Rocky got hung. I never went back thinking I did not want my little guy to think petting means a bad thing. Thank god for forums where I met maryellen happened to be in my area and referred me to a clicker trainer. I am still bothered that I went to classes at that other program and believed this guy on a power trip. Rocky hated going to his class. He went from being a perfect silent pup to a cry whine bark get me outta here Im stressed pup.

I do not even understand what this guy was even supposedly correcting or training. He slapped the dog in the face for what? And when he jerked the lead, what was the dog doing wrong??? I dont EVER think it is ok to slap, jerk, or abuse a dog but so many say "H/She was being dominant"...I see NOTHING. I think this guy is a complete idiot and anyone who talks him up is a control freak. I agree 100% with Carolann. By the end of the video the dog looks so stressed. Another Cesar Millan type trainer...What else is new.

How does one go about changing something like this? Do you send letters, if so to whom? Do you start a facebook page, a petition? What? How do we get enough people involved to tell AP it's time to f-----g stop with this COMEPLTE bs? (Politely, of course) From a channel dedicated to animals no less!
I'm over it, and people are starting to really piss me off. Seeing/hearing about someone on youtube, or whatnot, is one thing. Having a HUGE broadcasting station televise and condone this stuff is another. Just when things seemed as if they were "looking up" for the bully breeds, AP has to go and start airing lies like this. So, what do we do? What can we do?

People start doing this do their bullies they will end up biting in fear then we will have huge problems. If that bastard had kids which my guess he never did he would hit them with a belt for no reason. Never rewarding for opening the door for other people. But kicking them in the ass when they dont. I cant imagine this being on AP and people actually thinking its wonderful.ey Or will they do like ceasar and we will only see the dog sitting or rolling onto its back when he says sit. I should show this ass how I dont even need to say sit anymore now all I need to do is begin to use my hand signal. not because of fear someone will pull up on my collar if I dont. But because a reward is coming. Dont get me wrong sometimes some discipline is needed a nice equal balance but never whipping in the face.

I'd like more information on the guy, the show, and if there is any pre-production info available before I send anything off to Animal Planet. But I DO think, if this trainer is actually going to be getting air time, we should all band together. This is especially worrisome because they are targeting bull breeds.

You know, if he thinks its ok to do this to a misbehaving pit, very very doubtful he would still think its ok to try this on a misbehaving maltese or poodle
