Did they tell you what Barley's blood pressure was? I too, would vote for the chest films/ ecg if you end up having to bring him back in. Would be nice to rule out any heart issues. I hope you both get some rest this evening!

Are they medicating him for a seizure disorder? Doggie dilantin?

Suzi sorry to hear Barley not doing well. I am going to find that info for u and send it to you. Yes def check blood pressure. I also was thinking of possible kidney issues which can lead to seizures but his bloodwork you said came back fine. Let us know what vet says. Maybe think about x-rays and or ultrasound. Sorry Barley and momma.

I'm so sorry Suzi, I didn't log on to the forum yesterday and just read this. I'm in no way an expert, but does sound kind of neurological. Did they rule out a stroke or mabey vestibular disease? Some of the symptoms sound like Dugan when he had his stoke. Hugs to you and Barley. Hoping everything comes out ok.

They did rule out stroke. We're going to get xrays next week. His primary symptom seems to be lack of energy and he just seems really really tired. That makes part of me lean toward the vet's other suggested possibility of bacterial infection. We'll see if the antibiotic helps at all. But I don't know... I just want to get this figured out.

GOOD NEWS! Barley is doing MUCH better today. He hasn't lost his balance or fallen since Saturday, and his energy is about 80% back to normal. He's not quite as hyper as he usually is, but he's doing some running and jumping and playing. Thank jeebus. Seems like the antibiotics are working.

Blood panel for tick borne or other parasitic diseases was clear. Inner ears were clear. Xray showed no growths, lesions, inflammation, or bacterial infection on spine. Hips and joints were fine. No stones or anything like that. There is a possible spinal compression in his last vertebrae, so we're starting with steroids and taking it from there.
