On my way out but just remembering at the park the other day-a group of young guys came in the tennis court when Ophie was playing fetch. They all thought she was adorable, a few said they had similar doggies to her. Then this one child piped up with "My uncle's got fourteen of those." ...sometimes there's nothing to say...

Does that look like an optimal weight? Looks a bit starved to me...maybe Ophies just a piggie?

It's love, we adapt to our doggies temperaments, some days are just trickier than others... Know from what I've read though that Sedona's has made sooo much progress!!!

A new book I'm going to look for today "Blue Nights". Sometimes when we're in a difficult space it helps to read about someone who's been somewhere far darker. Course that can go both ways... can help reflect gratitude...or it can encourage one to jump "The Year of Magical Thinking" is such an excellent book, stream of conscious narrative about widowhood. In "Blue Nights" she loses her daughter as well. There's a picture of Joan Didion in the new Vanity Fair, even if you've never read her fiction you just look at her and think "How?". Then you read a Mad Magazine at the newsstand to debrief...whew...

Something shiny and happy in the day... Thank you so much for telling me about Baxter Boo!!!!! I have to post a picture of Ophie in her new sweater. The large fits like it was made for her. In two years of looking we could never find one that fit right. Stretchy so it leaves room for her shoulders but snuggles against her middle. I'm ordering another one next month, sooocuuutte

Wait, must clarify 9/11 was a day that changed our world and perceptions permanently. And we have to bear witness so it doesn't ever happen again I'm thinking of something said by a neighbor who lost his wife...we can honor people's memories in respectful ways, candlelight vigils, masses, dedications are all deeply appreciated. The stations showing the really graphic footage are doing sensationalism, not respect for the families. On the original topic...dangerous by default-I stopped after the first few sentences... Just completely oversaturated with sad stuff at the moment...sigh

I'm tired of reading about pit bull attacks, tired of the endless 9/11 footage. It's the 10th anniversary and I know someone who had a breakdown from all the people they lost in the attacks. But the footage over and over and over and...like the headlines about pit bull fatalities...enough...really...enough

Bye the bye, I find this educating coming from a site of dog people...I was kind of afraid to share my thoughts about dogs and babies n' toddlers. Thought it just came from being a total cat person for so long. But I would be edgy about Ophie, alot of dogs...around really young kids unsupervised. Just way too many behavior cues both child and dog can miss. And I've seen Sophie with the prey drive-when Em was laying in the snow playing, waving her arms and squealing...Ophie didn't go nutz but you could see it got her excited in a scary way. Most cats will ignore a baby beyond sniffing, maybe do a quick nip if they're grabbed then run. Back in the day our cat Jaime would sleep in my son's crib. I was young I didn't worry about fur and germs. There's the myth that cats will try to suffocate an infant. Yeah if kitty sleeps on the baby's face suppose it could happen...more likely an idea started by somebody who just hated cats. Jaime slept happily with Davey for 6 months. As soon as those little hands could grip onto kitties tail...heeheehee never saw that cat run so quick

I dunno from dogs, but maybe it's personality too. Ophie has alot of fears and separation issues...which have gotten alot better but...she will not eat in public and you could wave a steak in front of her and if I leave the room or there's thunder she will ignore the steak. Her friend maggie the Ridgeback will stand on her head and water ski for a snausage...no food inhibitions at all

This sounds like an accident waiting to happen, friends have had an assortment of GSD's and normal is warning barks when someone comes in front of the house or to the door. And most dogs tend to guard their yard. But charging and growling in an uneutured boy. Oh.No.
