I know, I get asked the "What kind of Pit Bull" question all the time. Um, the ONE kind? LOL Just had to say that almost immediately after I posted this, I got an email from a poor soul who wanted to know what 'breed' of Pit Bull she had. Someone told her it was a blue, red-nose cross.

Thank you. Someone the other day told me they had a red/blue nose mix. I was like "Your dog's nose is half red and half blue?" LOL!! See my last post in this thread. Just had someone say the same thing to me. Oh please, remind me to bite my tongue and be patient!

LOL.
We had another guy on another forum I am on telling me he has a Chinaman and American pit. I, first gave him the benefit of the doubt, and figured I just haven't heard of the American Bloodline, so, I asked. He told me that American Pit bull Terriers are large, and usually over 70lbs. I, then, had to let him know as politely as possible that Chinaman was an APBT, and that he was 50lbs. cw, and 45 lbs. conditioned. I guess he thought one was a Chinaman Pit Bull Terrier and the other was an APBT.

Oh my, this thread cracks me up and saddens me all at the same time! It never ceases to amaze me when we get the plethoras of emails from owners who need to surrender their dogs then immediately go into how much they paid ($1500) and it's a this line and that line and rare blue, yadda yadda. I'm thinking, if it's so great and you spent so much, why are you "getting rid of it" at age 6 months??? It isn't about the DOG it's about the BRAGGING. Nothing more. We've been seeing more and more merle coat patterns in pit bulls around here. People just don't get it. They never even realize the genetic nightmares or that they are a disqualification or that breeding them may result in unsellable puppies... . Without a doubt, the "rare" blues we get in are riddled with health issues and almost always come in with Demodex and allergies. But my all time favorite would have to be: Red Tail Pit Bull. I wish I could say I was joking.

Well, I have to admit that I don't *identify* a pitty by coat color but I do have a pet peeve about incorrect coat coloration labels.
I do discern a "tiger stripe brindle", reverse brindle, dilutes, blue brindle, piebalds, liver (what most folks refer to as chocolate), mantles, etc.
I'm just weird that way. But I certainly don't define a pitty by their color!
I also do not not use it as a marketing ploy for adoption like I see in all breed, pit bull friendly groups in my area.

I know, I get asked the "What kind of Pit Bull" question all the time. Um, the ONE kind? HAHA! I was in the drive thru at the bank once and she saw my "I love my Pit Bull" sticker. So she says "what KIND of Pit Bull do you have?" I said...a black one. =)

Lucy's ears are always up as well. Even when she is sleeping, well most of the time unless she is exhausted.
