Blue, brindle, red/red nose.......these are names of COLORS and patterns that a Pit Bull may have. They aren't the names of special 'types/breeds' of Pit Bulls, and they are not rare or special. These are all very common colors that can be seen in this breed.
Good dogs come in all acceptable colors.

Yup agreed, can't tell you how many times I've heard someone say rare blues or bluenose, or even rare brindle. :bangdesk:

Oh my goodness... I'll never forget the event we had back in the spring when a boy (I guess he must have been about 12) walked up to us and started telling us about his... Blue nose, gator mouth Pit Bull. : : Not really , but extremely disappointed... Alicia proceeded to tell him that color is just that and that they're all still "just a Pit Bull". Nothing rare or "special" about them when it comes to color or pattern. :bangdesk: What's truly sad is when you see a rescue promote a litter of "rare" blues. Yup... we've seen that too. : :

A rescue promoting rare blues??? JEEZ!!! Yeah, I get asked waaaaaaay too often, "What is the difference between the different Pit Bull 'breeds', like blue, red, brindle..." and sometimes they throw a bloodline in there for good measure (Colby, Gator, etc). They just don't know any better, that's why we're here to edu-ma-kate! ;D LOTS of crappy people out there promoting really crappy misinformation and outright LIES.

Don't forget the "dominant pit bulls." They are bigger and tougher than regular pit bulls and cost a lot more. Even though the guy told me his dogs were a year old and weighed between 45 and 50 lbs. I guess unlike regular dogs, they keep growing.

Don't forget those ultra rare "Texas Red Noses"
Better yet, I love when they call their dog a blue nosed pit and it's a fawn dog with a black nose.

Ya know, we were all newbies once, and to me there is no such thing as a dumb question. An UNasked question is what's dumb When people ask me the 'difference between breeds like red, brindle, etc', I am so happy they've actually asked and will be able to have an important bit of material clarified for them. What really annoys the crap out of me are the "breeders" out there dumping pups on people who have no idea, the ones playing up the 'rare blue' angle, and those purposefully misleading their puppy buyers about 'rare' colors and crazy non-bloodlines.

Yup I fully agree to that Mary! I have no problem explaining things to people and love to teach people willing to learn. But the biggest thing that annoys me is someone that will refuse to listen about color or bloodlines. I just feel like there's no point in arguing because obviously they aren't willing to learn. For the record I don't walk around calling people morons lmao

For the record I don't walk around calling people morons lmao LOL I didn't think you did! And I agree, some people just don't want to be educated, and with APBTs, I've found there are a LOT of self proclaimed, know it all experts out there. THEY are the damaging ones. And THAT moron list is pretty d*mn long, sadly.

IT JUST SHOWS YOU HOW IGNORANT PEOPLE CAN BE. AROUND MY NEIGHBORHOOD I HAVE THE ULTRA RARE BLUE APBT...YOU KNOW SHE IS NOT YOUR ORDINARY DOG. SHE HAS SPECIAL POWERS THAT ONLY BLUE APBTS HAVE. AND SHE MUST HAVE COST ME 2000 DOLLARS BECAUSE SHE IS SO RARE....AND PEOPLE WILL ACTUALLY ARGUE WITH ME WHEN I TELL THEM SHE IS NO DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER PITBULL. IT IS JUST A COLOR....NOTHING RARE...

I love when people ask me if Cooper is a "bluenosed pit" I tell them; "No, he just an American Pit Bull Terrier. His color is is called blue (even though it is really gray) and his nose color matches his coat color." What I dislike more than the color question is when people ask me what kind of Pit Bull I have. WTF?! I've been tempted a few times to tell them I own a "Chinese Pit Bull Terrier" just to see the reaction I get.

Thank you. Someone the other day told me they had a red/blue nose mix. I was like "Your dog's nose is half red and half blue?"
