Haha, I love it when people act as though a color of pit is somehow "rare." Benny was a beautiful red color, nose an all (who was actually mixed with shar pei, not even a pure bred pit!). People would actually come up to us and say it was a shame that he'd been neutered because he would make beautiful puppies! When I told them he was a mix they wouldn't believe me! One guy actually said, "No way! I know a red nose when I see one!" People are just silly! Do you ever hear people call yellow labs rare? No! They're just a color of lab, just like red and blue nose pits are just a color! I want to "boop" every pit's nose, blue, red or black! Bad Rap actually posted a great flyer on their Facebook wall about blue nose pits the other day, heres the link: www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4245299&id=21764607398

Someone actually said that about Snorts..."Is he a red nose?" His nose is not red. It's dark. I even hate to say "blue nose" because it's just so silly. We don't say, "Black nosed Pug" or "Red nosed Lab". Pits are the most misunderstood breed, from their temperament down to their coat!

Speaking of "rare" yellow labs... Apparently they are being bred lighter and called "rare" white labs. It's happening in many breeds.

I had Kojack in the yard yesterday morning( waiting on him to to handle his biz) and one the trash men stopped and asked " Where did you find him..you must have had to go to Florida to get him. that's the only place to find blues!" I'm a newb but generally speaking that had to be the dumbest statement of the day for me! So Florida is the only place you can get certain color dog? Wow!

IKR!!! but check this link out...http://www.americanironkennels.com/ look at these dogs. They are passing them off as tri colored pure breeds. Any idiot can see the Rottie in them. The markings are a dead give away. Why would you buy that? Why would you breed that? Pure breed my arse!

Coloring in the least of those dogs problems. Those 'breeders' are trying to pass of AmBullies as APBT even though they are breeding them to look like squat pigs. Awful.

You know what? You are so right. My MawMaw(southern for granny) had two potbelly pigs in her yard when we were growing up and that exactly what they look like. I wanna play with my dog not wait on him! They look like all they do is fart and burp..

I don't feel like barfing all over my keyboard so I didn't click the link, and if it's a "Bully" breeder I am sure there are all sorts of things on the site to make me sick. But APBTs DO come in tri-color and black and tan. As far as the Florida comment, that is REALLY one of the silliest things I've heard related to color LOL

I have seen some people claiming that they have something like razor's edge, gotti lines, and even pocket pits; I guess it is their need to feel they have something unique, and they forget that no especial type of dog is more unique than the relationship between you and your dog.

let's not forget owning own of these "rare" pit bulls or gotti line dogs justifies spending thousands of dollars on these unique dogs....whatever!

Even worse is the buyer who buys for no other reason than "I got a purebred!" Then, they have no justification for why they bought one. Not, "Oh it's a rare ___" or "This bloodline is great for ____" Nope, just because.
I rescued my Pits because I wanted to. They didn't need to be a certain color or have certain bloodlines. Heck, they could have come from the tippy top and be a champion but who the F cares?! Not me!

Yesterday I got this...
man "Is that a pit bull"
me "Yup"
man "Is that a tiger stripe?"
me "Well, her coloring is brindle...so she kind of has striping in her coat."
man "I got a tiger stripe pit bull. Real pretty. Only a few months old."
Jess is, apparently, half pit bull half tiger.
