ICK those dogs are fat on that website. Those dogs are what people describe when they try to tell me Rocky does not look like what they think a pit bull looks like. People always say a pit bull has a big head shorter legs and fatter body.

The tiger stripe thing is another one of those BYB produced colors sayings that drives me nuts. OK funny thing is years ago I used to joke that if I bred my red and blue dogs I'd make purple, and now sadly people are marketing "purple" and "lavender" as these great "RARE colors when in actuality they are just extremely watered down dilutes of either red, blue or chocolate. There is nothing rare or good about a dog lacking good solid pigment.

I joke that I have a "purple @ssed Pit" because Snorts hiney hole is purple. It sounds silly, and that's exactly how it sounds when people advertise Pits as nothing more than "Red nose" or "Blue nose". For fun, I'd really like to ask a dumb breeder, "So what makes a red/blue nose so special?" and see what they say. If a red nose meant that the dog never chewed shoes, or a blue nose meant he had psychic abilities, then maybe we'd care. I've only ever heard one red nose myth that apparently people say they are better fighters. In reality, there's evidence that dogs with red pigmented coats are actually more fearful.

I was asked by a friendly checker at Petsmart the other day..."What breed Pit Bull is Archie?" I replied "I dunno umm ABPT" he says "Nooo what color is his nose? Blue ,red or what?" I say " It's dark...black I guess" He says " Oh he's a blue nose then" After a few seconds of head tilting on my part I reply "Oh I know Archie is the cold wet nosed pit bull breed"

I just had my first experience with this the other day, my new neighbors, who also own a Pibble.
We were talking about the dogs and the lady asked what kinds I had, I told her a Pit Bull and a Lab mix... Then she proceeded to ask what kind of Pit Bull I had, so I told her a black one (lol). She got kind of mad and said, no, what breed is she like red nose, blue nose, what? I told her Aida has a black nose and that color does not represent a different breed in Pibbles just as it doesn't in any other breed. Well apparently I had lost because she went on to say her male "red nose" is papered and that we should breed Aida and her dog.... I told her Aida is fixed and she asked why I would do that to her when she's so pretty.
Needless to say I realized I lost and changed the subject. I don't get people sometimes I don't go around saying I have a brown nosed lab, why should my Pibble be any different. It seems to be a never ending battle with some people.

I totally agree, however I use the word red, not as to mean they are special, but just in description. My baby has the typical redish lips and from a distance she looks to have a little "hitler" mustache of bare red skin.

I agree, However, I do use it to describe their looks. Just as in describing my Elsie Lee...RIP she was brindle, meaning her color. I have heard people say oooh a "red Nose Pit" and then wait for the oohs and ahhs. Do you think there is anything wrong with using the term "red nose" when decribing them?

Nothing wrong with using the term red nose to describe a red nose pit. There are just a lot of people that think that a red nose or blue nose is a special breed of pit bull....at the end of the day they are all pit bulls regardless of their nose color.

Thank you for verifying for me....I call mine..."sit-n-bulls" cause they like to sit at the table when people are over and they seem to be concentrating on the conversation!

The breed is a multi-colored breed, and all colors are shown in the same classes, and correctly identifying your dog does not include mention of color. All this "red nose pit" and "blue nose pit" stuff comes off as very newbish, and perpetuates the idea that dogs with dilute (non-black) noses are somehow cool or special. Let me ask a rhetorical question (or maybe not! I'm curious how people answer ): If you had a white Pit Bull, a brindle Pit Bull, a fawn Pit Bull, etc. would you always identify your dog by exclaiming, "My dog is a FAWN (or whatever) pit"? Personally, I think you should just tell people what breed you have. If you want to get into more specifics about your dog, then you can start talking about age, color, etc. This is just my personal opinion and I am not trying to say anyone is "right" or "wrong". But there is astounding confusion, mislabling, and overall incorrect informcation being spread about dogs called "pit bulls" and to clean the waters up a bit, I encourage people to speak correctly about their breed and their dogs.

The City of Ogden, UT is proposing BSL that restricts "pit bulls," but in the definition they list "American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Red-nose pit bull, Blue-nose pit bull,..." I had never seen an ordinance do that before.

I had never seen an ordinance do that before. That is a new one for me as well! Guess they want to cover all their bases....yikes! It amazes me how so many people think that a red or blue are rare or a totally different type of pit bull.

I suppose they're trying to make it easy for the morons to understand. If you think your red or blue nosed dog is a different "type" of Pit, then chances are you are not very educated and hence, probably not very responsible with keeping your dog and community safe.

Yet another demonstration that BSL is not based on anything factual.

I know this thread is from a while ago, but when our Charlie was only around 10 weeks old, I had a guy walk into my office & ask me if she was a "Tiger Stripe" Pit Bull. Even as a Pit Bull newbie back then I knew that brindle was just her color!
He was all excited asking me if I was going to breed her. I told him "Definitely not!" she will be spayed at 6 months. He couldn't believe we got her as a rescue. I guess he thought we were like the rest of the dummies out there that pay a ton of money for a "rare tiger stripe" Pit Bull. lol

Tiger striped, gator mouth, reverse brindle etc are all BYB terms. EEk!
I've had people ask if my dogs were Americans. The misinformation that is out there is astounding.
