hi every one. i have several books and literature relating to the real apbt, not the new trend of the bullys,,,,which by the way i cant stand them trying to pass them off as apbt. but i was wondering about my girl...she is very athletic no health problems and stong as on ox...i went thru 3 chains before i could get one that she couldn't break ...she is only on the chain because my yard is not fully fenced in, other than that she's on the couch...anyways relating to her size is she just turned 9 1/2 months and she just hit 62 pounds....once i'm able to get some real good pics up of her you will see she is standard to the t...she is kinda short...do you think she will get taller or wider....sorry so long

At 9.5 months, she will certainly fill out more, and gain more muscle weight. I have to clarify that even amongst fairly responsible, true APBT/AST people, you'll have dogs on the higher end of the height/weight scale (my AmStaff weighs between 65 - 70 lbs, and is rather a tall guy). Just because you have a Pit Bull that weights 60 or 70 lbs, doesn't mean you have an "American Bully". There are other factors at play, including significantly, pedigree.

A friend and I took three pit bulls to the Richmond "Veggie Fest" this spring. All three correctly sized female "pit bulls". One little black female probably 40 lbs, one leggy chocolate female, taller and rangier but still only about 45 and one stubby little AST that weighed about 42lbs (but looked heavier). We actually had a "pit bull rescue" info booth manned by some of their volunteers give us the "Wow, they're kinda small arent they?"
I will leave the rescue nameless but was sad that they couldn't even recognize the correctness and they are a rescue.

Right now Odie is 25lbs but he's not fat. His dad is on the larger end around 75-80lbs. He was bred to be a weight pull dog though. SO we think he might get to around 65 as are his brothers and sisters. He looks good though. Someone at Pitbull Awareness day asked me if he was a mastiff pup but I think that had to do with his coloring.

Yeah, this is all new to me...but I've had sooo many people ask me what kind of dog Daisy is...when I say Pit Bull...they go "wow she's so small, is she mixed?". I'll measure her, but she weighs 45 pounds, and I think she's the perfect size. I'd love it if she were even smaller LOL.

I went to check out a local pit bull "club" function recently, I am desperate to meet people like myself, who are concerned about the breed as a whole. I saw about 50-60 dogs. At least 80% of those "APBT's" looked like monster-dogs on steroids. Particularly disturbing were the Short Fatties: 8' legs, supporting 80# bodies. Another 75-80% were the lovely "RARE" blue in color! Of the 20 or so people I conversed with, we only found 1 other dog neutered & from a shelter like ours. Everyone else was unaltered and breeding. It was sort of depressing.

I think people need to there research about the history of APBTs before buyin a pit or should I say mutts. People think that the mutts are the real deal, but what they dont know is the REAL pit originally weighed from 20-40 lbs. And the bully pit/bulldog mutts & the other pit/mastiff mutts that are real muscled up is just fake because they either use steroids or mass/weight supplements. Why would you put your dogs that mess thats false advertising.

I get so many of those ads on Myspace. Umm....sorry, if you need to feed your dog body building supplements to expand mass (ie. flab), somethin' aint right ;D

It makes me so mad, all you have to do is just exercise ur mutt on a daily basis to get muscle instead of feedin ur dog these supplements. Aint no tellin what all that stuff is doin to ur dogs health.

I'm pretty patient with newbie questions when it comes to the breed, but the emails I get asking 'how do I git my pit to be biggR an have moor mussel' really just get under my skin.....*sigh*

This is my opinion sorry if I offend anyone but the bullies are all mutts!!! If you have to put your dog on a mass/weight gainer supplement thats pretty sad. If you want to your to have muscle then exercise your dog, go walkin everyday or something. Its different when you have your dog on a vitamins that you buy from the vet. I have my dog on pet-tab vitamins which is very healthy but never would I put my dogs on any mass/weight gainer supplements!!! To people who like bullies & breed them STOP, you are ruining the true APBT image!!!! If you want a bully dog well then get an English Bulldog & DONT breed it w/ the APBT!!!!!
Sorry ya'll just got a little mad, these subjects make me mad.

Kay, I think you'll fit in fine RPBF is not an "American Bully"-friendly zone. I definitely do not support the breeding of these dogs. The poor things are already ending up in rescue like crazy, and the people who own these dogs as far as I can tell only seem concerned with image, and don't really seem to care about responsible breeding or legit formation of a new breed. Sad
