Last night someone actually told me "Your dog is a beautiful blue nose pit!" I replied, "Um, he's not blue". To which I got, "Yeah he is, trust me I know pits". He then tried to explain to me how Chubby would be perfect if his head were a little bigger and more square. ...wait, what?

Ugh, I hate the know-it-all morons that insist they are experts and you are the dumb one.

That and the fact that she doesn't fit the standard in a lot of ways. She is probably the result of a BYB. Just a few pictures to show some of her faults. I think she's absolutely beautiful, but definitely not a show dog. This picture is what she looks like when she's fit. It's hard to keep her that way since she has bad hips.

She looks purebred to me. And btw, no dog fits the standard 100% - it is an ideal to strive towards. Even some really badly bred dogs that don't fit the standard, would still be considered purebred if their pedigree consists of an unbroken line of purebred APBTs.

I know there's not a perfect dog out there that fits the standard fully, but...I just don't know. I guess since I adopted her from the shelter I just prefer to call her a mix rather than argue with people about bloodlines, AmStaff vs. APBT, how my dog isn't purebred unless she has papers, etc.
Thanks for the compliments. She appreciates them very much.

I'm curious what you would all guess Scout's breedealogy is (yes, I made that up.) At the shelter she was listed as APBT, but we have no idea. She goes about 60lbs. (Sorry most of the pictures are of her in motion - she doesn't stand still very often!) Here's Scout next to her best friend, my mom's year old GSD, Jett And with her (large) brother, Tate (in their Christmas outfits) A little blurry, but so adorable! She LOVES fetch!

I think Pit Bull mix is a good guess.

I'll add my vote to Pit Bull Mix! While I'm not an advocate or fan of huge blocky heads, let alone stubby muzzles, Scout's head looks a wee bit long and slender for a pure Pit. But if asked the generally much easier question of what breed predominates in her apparent make up, it's Pit Bull for sure! She could easily be 3/4 Pit/Staff and 1/4 something more slender.

Yep, agree with Mary, Michele, and John. Whatever she's mixed with, I am so in love with Scout! She's soooo sweet and pretty!

Scouts snout also seemed similar to my Rocky's longer type snout. Rocky was turned in as a pup by owner as a "Pit Bull" Scout is very pretty.

I was thinking APBT until the pictures from the front, especially the last one. Something about the snipey muzzle looks almost GSD-ish. She is very cute
