Ummm, I stopped reading after the question about what to do with a dog in the "red zone". and I didn't realize there were 7 pages after that so this has taken a long different turn since then. All in all after the long winded explanation that I cut out so everyone wasn't reading it... I recommend two things. Don't put the dog in that position. Know your dog well enough and Protect him! If you use Milan's methods long enough you are going to do two things cause mental anguish in dogs and create a bite situation where it didn't need to go that route. Cesar himself has been bitten luckily he hasn't tried to alpha roll the wrong dog yet and gotten mauled. That is honestly the equivalent of going up behind a stranger putting them in a black belt submission hold and asking them if you have their attention. is one instance it is assault in the other its training? Nobody is perfect and everybody has there own way of doing things. His life and all his efforts is because he loves dogs. That's what makes him someone we should all relate to and give props to.

No one hates on him here because of his love of the APBT. We dislike his training methods. There is a difference between disliking the person and disliking something a person does.

Cesar Millan has had a positive effect on people who own dogs worldwide. They hate on Cesar because, he has love for the APBT. OTURO Actually he EXPLOITS pit bulls for his own purposes of self aggrandizement. There's not a shred of evidence that he's ever actually helped any dog permanently. All the stuff about him "curing dogs that no one else could help" is just plain b.s. His methods... choking, flooding, hitting, are abusive. And stupid. NO real trainer gets bitten as often as he does. He's got some kind of weird masochistic/macho notion that getting bitten proves he's really tough. |

^ This isn't something we really do on this forum. We encourage one another to share honest opinions and can disagree with respect and courtesy. We don't hold back, but we also don't "flame" one another. That being said, I don't think you are going to find any Cesar Milan supporters here. Many of us are rescuers, trainers, advocates, etc and none of us support negative/force training methods. There are many other threads here with factual information explaining why Milan's methods are harmful, dangerous, and counterproductive to modifying dog behavior. We have had forum members that have come here as staunch Milan supporters, only to realize that in using Milan's methods they are harming their dog. I encourage you to read through the other training & behavior threads and I hope you will stick around to have a positive discussion with us.  |
